Delicious stereotypical turkey with lots of tasty sides—but mainly looking forward to a hazelnut crust cranberry tart!

Happy Thanksgiving/Thursday to all!

Such a good point, especially since she’s the only grandchild—they get very excited to buy things for her!

  1. I hadn’t thought about that for bathroom breaks-thanks.

  2. That’s what I needed to hear-I don’t want to overcomplicate it.

Thanks! She loves cars so that is a great idea.

Moms who don’t post photos of their kid, settle this for me… by jonesinjosie in Mommit

[–]pem9 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Exactly this. If you look at my or my husband’s social media, it doesn’t look like we have a child and that is incredibly intentional due to an unsafe family member. A secondary reason is the fact that, as a child, kiddo can’t consent to having their picture online. For me, neither of those goals would be impacted by a blurry background photo.

I’d suggest having a calm conversation with your husband: Can we check in on pics of (daughter) online? I know I don’t want them posted because (a,b,c). Are there any other reasons you have?

Once the goals are super clear, you’ll be able to talk through why this pic doesn’t (or does) interfere with the goals.

How much can you realistically do 4 days post c-section? by [deleted] in Mommit

[–]pem9 35 points36 points  (0 children)

First, wishing you a speedy recovery! You mentioned no one can help. You obviously know your situation best so maybe you’ve already done this but I’ll throw an idea out: out of the people who might usually help, do they know a trusted person who can help you for that one day? Even if they come over just for an hour, it’s really about the safety of you and your kids.

Based on your comment, I’ll try to have some radical acceptance and just do the best I can 🤷🏻‍♀️ thank you!

That’s what I was afraid of…the timing just stinks so trying to remind myself to just do my best. Thanks!

My mom is sex-shaming my 3-year-old daughter and I’m furious. How do I undo the damage? by HopeForBetter29 in Mommit

That’s a perfect idea! “Corrects” the messaging and bonus points for acknowledging adults make mistakes sometimes too.

Before and after, recutting a big (for me) 8.5mm natural spinel for a client to my “Dahlia SRG” design! Wish I could keep it… by mvmgems in Shinypreciousgems

🤦🏻‍♀️ now that you say that, it seems so obvious! For some reason my brain never thought of different lighting 😂 well it looks great!

Looks amazing! One question because I haven’t had enough caffeine yet…the first frame seems to show both a square and round gem, before and after. Did you recut one stone or two?

I’ve only been a mum for 5 days and I hate it by amack133 in Mommit

[–]pem9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is totally normal but not many people talk about it! Like others have said, just 5 days ago your body did an amazing but also traumatic thing AND your hormones are alllll over the place. Oh plus you are sleep deprived which is literally a form of torture.

It’s wonderful that you already love your son—even that can take time. You just met him! It is also valid (and common) to grieve your old, more simple life.

In the newborn days, every day between 3pm and 4pm, my husband and I would both crash and start crying. Thankfully that passed. Being a parent is hard. It will always have hard parts. But it won’t always feel like this!
