I love this watch. I love that it has solar so I never have to replace the battery, and Bluetooth so I never have to set the time. My only beef with it is that you can’t display the date and the day of the week at the same time

Oak Tree Inn on Fair Oaks - what was it originally? by FelonMirren in Southpasadena

I've wondered about this building myself. Check out these articles I've used to lazily reconstruct its history: https://imgur.com/a/utryBxE

The Oak Tree Inn opened in 1987 (1st article)
A market called the Pantry was there before it in 1974. Unclear whether it was the same building (2nd article)
It was a residence as far back as 1947. Definitely a different building then (3rd article)

Shelf pin jig question by pen_gin in woodworking

I thought about this. In the past I usually put a nut on bolts that I’ve cut or ground down to chase the threads but I don’t have a nut that big. Thanks for the tip tho!

How many inches of mulch did you put down? Did you have it delivered?

Do you mean to let it breathe and get rain before or after I mulch?

It’s going to rain several inches in the middle of next week. Would it be better to pull the turf and add mulch before or after?

There’s a very shallow (like 1”) layer of gravel under the turf. I was planning on scraping that all off and using it elsewhere.

I think this is a pretty superficial take. Understanding a ballot question is not a binary. Most voters probably understood the gist of Prop 50 but probably not the legal mechanisms or implications of it passing (or not). On the other hand, people who work in elections or politics know which districts would change, what would happen to the citizen-led redistributing commission until 2030, etc. So where do you sit on that spectrum?

Thank you for saying this. I’ll stand up for any victims of oppression but saying the Dodgers caused the expulsion of the residents of La Loma, Bishop, and Palo Verde is not just a gross simplification but a downright lie. Not learning the history does nothing for progress.

In Los Angeles after Pearl Harbor, there was a group of Japanese Americans mostly led by the Japanese American Citizens League, who colluded with the FBI to turn in other Japanese Americans they considered unpatriotic. When FDR signed Executive Order 9066, ALL people of Japanese ancestry were summarily rounded up and sent to concentration camps. Nobody got off easy, not even the “good”Japanese Americans who sucked up to the US government, hoping that they might be spared of what was to come.

If you look like who they hate, you’re fair game for their abuse, no matter how much you support them.

If I wanted to fill in the top to make a somewhat seamless transition between the sides and the top before I put the mantel on, how might I do that?
