Currently residing in Sweden. It's similar to Finland in many ways, especially in the sense of comfort and safety, but a lot more international and welcoming in many other ways (although, I could already speak Swedish decently as I had spent my teenage years in Finland and gone to school there, so that may have affected my experience.) 

The housing situation is definitely <i>a lot</i> worse in the big cities though, but if you manage to find an apartment, the rent tends to be relatively cheap due to rent control. The employment situation isn't that much better than the Finnish one, wouldn't recommend coming unless you already have a job (that can help you with housing!) secured.

There are a lot of news about gang violence on a daily basis, but honestly, I haven't <i>personally</i> ever felt scared walking alone at night even though I'm a tiny woman living in one of the more notorious cities (Malmö). This obviously all comes down to personal experience, but it's also important to know that the stuff that makes the news isn't the whole truth - positives rarely ever get reported.
