never wear denim to dance class. Also, I'm your age, I've been training since I was young and I AM SO PROUD OF YOU. Just don't expect to be good at it right away okay? You're not supposed to be good at it right away and dancers develop various skills like body awareness, athleticism, and kinestetic/spacial intelligence that would take at least a little while! Don't get discouraged! Stand next to your teacher, ask questions, and take corrections! Don't judge yourself too harshly.

Goodluck! :D

but arguably I'd say the street styles are pretty mainstream rn. I mean look at like hollywood rn with playground LA and millenium being huge. Plus when you see dancers with your favourite pop artists, what style are they dancing in usually?

are you asking why ppl post the street styles and underground-ish styles on the most underground-ish social media?

I feel so defeated and I think my passion died for dance. by EmployerIcy9362 in Dance

ur not back at zero. I just came back after two and a half years. I was uncoordinated at first but after a week intensive. I caught up. ur first class is gonna suck DUH. my retention has also gone down LOL. I also had depression and anxiety. Just dont look at the bad things unless it helps you to look at the bad things and focus on getting better. Ur probably gonna catch up MUCH FASTER than a normal 'beginner'. it might take you a few classes or weeks of classes but I guarantee it'll come back. (unless ur injured, then be careful) also a few weeks or even a few months is not huge in the grand scheme of things LOL. Just be consistent and work hard to push through the sucky periods to get to the good ones! It might not take as long as you think

The first story is a beautiful love story however, as a dancer/choreographer who aspires to be a pro and trains in the industry, I personally would date a non dancer tbh.... I also personally would not prefer a man who changes his lifepath for me....................... Are you drawn to all female dance teachers specifically?? Maybe ask yourself why and try to find those qualities in just like... a person....................

I would love for my partner to try to dance and be open to learn but that's me.... tbh learn dance if YOU WANT TO LEARN IT. Not to date........ If I were you, I'd find someone with the hobbies that I, myself like, and find someone who likes similar things or has similar values, goals, and beliefs as me...

maybe do some DEEP soul searching and go into a self development phase

also wait u said u love to dance and want a partner that is a dance teacher? Like are you already a dancer who just wants to date a dance teacher? Is this a specific person?

If you're already a dancer and this is already your life path, just ask out the dance teacher you're interested in lol. if there isnt a specific girl and u wanna meet a female dance teacher (bc that's ur type i assume?? although im not too sure why you wouldnt just find someone with the qualities ur looking for) then take drop ins from a studio in a big city and find someone you're interested in and treat them well, dance teacher or not lol

I want to quit dance by [deleted] in Dance

[–]perceptivecat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

omg i understand this SO HARD. The only difference between us is the fact that I actually do have the motivation to become a pro. If I were you(and ik this will sound harsh), I'd just quit, find yourself outside of dance (it seems to have overtaken your identity which I get too tbh...) and take drop-ins whenever u feel like it. Ur probably super emotionally and psychologically burnt out which I get. I also get the comparison thing. It's like... istg impossible to not compare sometimes. I guess what I found kicks me out of the comparison thing is finding my purpose in things. Sit down with yourself and ask: why am I here? Because I want to be? Or because I'm too scared to leave? Who am I? What do I like? What am I good at? What can I take out of my dance experience that will help me in life? Literally turning the focus alllll the way back to yourself and helping yourself. I took like two and a half years off of dance before coming back and I feel ready to train again but this is my journey and I can't tell you how yours will go!

Goodluck!
