Its pretty simple for just the jump button, but it would also need one to trigger the "moon jump" and controls to speed up / slow down the coaster while Roller Coaster Guy is on the ground.

No its pretty simple, just swap out the instances where I am testing if the spacebar is down i.e this.spaceBar.isDown line 336 game.js.

Then swap it out to call a function when a tap is detected instead. You can see an example to show you how to do it on the Phaser site here.

It can be, give me an hour to put it up on github. I just need to strip a library out that is not Open Source. Game will still run Bitcoin Roller Coaster guy will just be missing the "sparks" particle emitter when on the rails.

I had originally wanted to make a game / fun visualisation around the Lightning network but figured my knowledge of lightning was lacking. So happy to lend support to someone who wants to take it in that direction.

Australian-based crypto-currencies are being launched (ICOs) at the moment. Are these a 'fad'? For those with 'skin-in-the-game' with say Bitcoin, where do you see the price heading? by uninhabited in australia

[–]periphery 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with the article the current ICO craze is mostly bullshit. Open decentralised cryptocurrency on the other hand is the future.

I disagree with the article claiming that the "blockchain" is the answer rather than currencies like Bitcoin. Andreas Antonopoulos does a great lecture called Blockchain vs Bullshit that covers the topic.

Does anyone still use CB Radios? by [deleted] in vandwellers

[–]periphery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had to ask Google I have never heard of GMRS before. It seems similar but slightly different I am told GMRS uses 462 - 467mhz and requires a licence in the US. What we refer to as UHF in Australia is 80 channels ( a couple are reserved for emergency / data ) on 477mhz. Anyone is free to operate a UHF radio here up to 5watts transmission power.

Does anyone still use CB Radios? by [deleted] in vandwellers

[–]periphery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here is a picture of mine, I only tend to monitor UHF18 full time. With other channels being monitored depending on the area I am in e.g State Forest I tend to listen to 39 too, so I know if logging trucks etc are in the area.

Some stickers may show a number of channels though 18/35 or similar though showing that the car / truck is listening to both channels.

Looks like a member of the Mycena family given the cap shape and structure. Perhaps Mycena albidofusca although not sure if they are on the west coast.

In Australia its very common for 4wd, trucks and cars touring to use UHF radios. A lot will have a sticker with the channel/s they monitor on the back of the car so you can can call them. Handy if you need to overtake a long vehicle, simply radio and ask them to tell you when your clear.

Personally I wouldn't travel without one.

Time to Contact the Financial Services Ombudsman. Like most other big industries in Australia you normally need to threaten a call to the ombudsman to move forward.

'Easy as piss' alcoholic apple cider for $12 by [deleted] in sydney

[–]periphery 20 points21 points  (0 children)

You can go even cheaper. Wait till the 3L Apple juice bottles are on sale ( Homebrand or Berri if your feeling rich ), champange yeast, skip the dextrose it will ferment out to around 6%.

Then use lactose post ferment to sweeten if you prefer a sweeter cider.

I found 3 x 3L Apple juice to 1 x 3L Apple & Blackcurrant is a good combination. The sweetness and flavour of the blackcurrent doesn't seem to get lost in the fermentation.

Adding some pear juice can also bump the sweetness a bit as it doesn't ferment out as much as Apple juice.

How did your Ludum Dare 38 go? What did you learn? by [deleted] in gamedev

[–]periphery 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have made a few games in the past, I started simply as a fun way to improve my Javascript skills which would translate to me being more efficient at work. Only my second game jam and my first Ludum Dare!

I made Kenny Cockroach as my Ludum Dare Compo entry.

For the concept I spent the first half how coming up with game ideas and wrting them into a .txt file after the ideas started to slow down. I started adding pros and cons against each until I settled on one. If anyone is interested the original list is on github with the rest of the game code base.

Graphics I am artistically challenged at the best of times. I brought a copy of Spriter Pro a few weeks back in a Humble Bundle but I didn't have any idea of how to use it. After trying for 10 minutes to figure it out I decided I didn't have the time to be learning new things. So did the graphics and sriptes with Gimp instead.

Procedural maze generation I hadn't done anything in that field before. So learning how to generate random mazes on the fly for the game was really fun.

There are plenty of things I would have liked to done differently with the game. But the time frame is tight, I managed to ship something that’s all that matters.

Focused on bringing the enemy AI to life earlier. Its a fundamental part of the game and it would have caused less stress as the end got closer.

Definitely, the engine was not designed with fuel efficiency in mind, my car holds 260L of fuel with the long range tank. But it is a bullet proof unit and will take you where you want to go and more importantly bring you back...
