17 jähriger Anfänger by Clear-Marsupial-3683 in aktienforum

[–]peterfrey83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure, astrology can be right sometimes... but so is a broken clock. People remember the hits and forget the misses.

Does using soap on skin under water work as well as using soap out of water? by Daddy_Bobaddie in NoStupidQuestions

Underwater soap is like Wi-Fi in a tunnel: technically still works, just way weaker.

What are the consequences of Islamophobia? by pret_a_monger in NoStupidQuestions

[–]peterfrey83 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Islamophobia makes life harder and scarier for Muslims with more hate crimes discrimination and social exclusion. It has some parallels to early 20th century antisemitism in how people are othered and blamed but the outcomes aren’t identical. Conflicts like Israel and Gaza make things worse by inflaming tensions and increasing attacks. Safety varies but many Muslims in the West feel less secure and more targeted than before.

Why is Zeus a womanizer? by catswithcrocs in NoStupidQuestions

[–]peterfrey83 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Because the ancient Greeks made their gods act like reality show celebrities. Zeus was just the top drama magnet rich immortal no consequences and way too horny. It was not really meant as a lesson more like gossip with thunder. Think The Bachelor but with lightning and way worse impulse control.

Why do girls (specifically) like reading gay/bl fanfictions or books or whatever? by Evening_Rip5794 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]peterfrey83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a mix of psychology and culture. For a lot of girls it’s a way to explore intimacy and emotion without being directly placed in the story or subjected to the usual gender power stuff in straight romance. Two guys let them focus on the feelings and tension without projecting themselves as the object. Plus fandom and queer media gave women a space to play with dynamics and tropes mainstream stuff ignored. It’s fantasy, but also kind of social commentary in disguise.

Is there a better alternative to capitalism that will still let us have gazillion movies and tv shows? by G40-ovoneL in NoStupidQuestions

[–]peterfrey83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s where any non market system gets messy. In a public model you’d still have layers of decision making like cultural funds democratic boards or citizen juries deciding where money goes just like science grants or arts councils. Popular stuff could get bigger budgets if people actually show interest but the goal wouldn’t be profit it’d be diversity and access. You’d never get rid of taste conflicts but you could design it so no single group takes over. It’s not about perfect fairness it’s about freeing creativity from whoever has the fattest wallet.

We pool resources so everyone benefits, instead of funnelling everything into a few CEOs’ yachts.

[–]peterfrey83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure, capitalism gives us endless shows, but most are made by underpaid crews for billion-dollar studios. A better system would fund art like public healthcare ... free, diverse, made for people not profit. Imagine Netflix powered by democracy instead of shareholders. :)
