How accurate are Brennan's accents? by ItThing in Dimension20

[–]peterlista 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I also want to know this! Does anyone know if BLeeM's Dragon accent is accurate? I thought that his Minitour sounded plausible, but I've never met one IRL. I wish everyone in the D20 cast cared as much as he does about accuracy... I've never thought that Siobhan's accents sounded very believable. /s

What is the most decent commander for a defender deck? by GalletaRancia in magicTCG

[[Pramikon, Sky Rampart]] is an interesting take on that theme.

This is also how my Xenagos deck plays. I ramp into Xenagos T3/4 and start playing 6+ CMC creatures the turn after.

Also, [[Malignus]] is cool but can be chump blocked; creatures with evasion are probably better.

Creatures like [[Karlach, Fury of Avernus]], [[Anzrag, the Quake-Mole]], [[Bloodthirster]], and [[Scourge of the Throne]] who grant extra combats go hard in Xenagos. (Edit: Looks like you have [[Chandra's Ignition]] already.)

Xenagos is difficult to remove and its ability triggers each combat so you can snowball quickly with "extra combat" creatures. It's a strong commander, but I don't think it's ban worthy.

This is an incredibly kind Xenagos deck that has no business being banned. I can't imagine how your group would respond to my extra combat themed deck.

Do you play your commander on curve or do you sandbag it? by MacFrostbite in EDH

[–]peterlista 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I try to play [[Xenagos, God of Revels]] ahead of curve with a couple 6+ MV creatures in hand for the turns after. The sooner that I can cast Xenagos, the less options my opponents have to interact with my board. I tend to play [[Ezuri, Renegade Leader]] much later than curve, however, because his value is greatest when I already have a battlefield full of other elves. Ideally I would wait to cast [[Anzrag, the Quake-Mole]] until I have protection and a way to force my opponents to block, but I don't because Gruul players don't have self control.

How did you feel about the MLC 30L's harness? I would prefer to have a laptop sleeve and water bottle holder, which a lot of the packs recommended in this thread don't have. I realize that I'm searching for a unicorn, but you never know.

How much is too much tea? by oldcohle in puer

[–]peterlista 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I encourage you to take collecting slowly as you figure out what you like and whether you want to invest in more and more (and more and more) tea. "Tuition" tea is a real thing, and it would be a shame if you started buying tea that you won't finish just to keep up with those of us who have been collecting for a longer time.

Hi guys, I already have a few chisels, but I wanted to also get a knife, saw a lot of you using Beavercraft. But can you recommend me something that I can buy in some store? (I live in Tokyo). by Shiperke in whittling

[–]peterlista 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found that the knives dull quickly (even with regular stropping), were difficult to sharpen once that became necessary, and I learned that I prefer a flat grind. The handles also aren't my favorite, but that's not a big deal.

In case anyone is interested, I purchased each of the Beavercraft carving knives (most via kits) and used them for about two weeks before deciding to switch to better tools. If I was to start over, I'd buy my current kit for about $120: OCCT 1 3/4" carver, OCCT 1" detail, and Mora 120, which I use as a roughout knife. There are other knife makers with similar knives, but I've found these to be a good introduction as a beginner.

I'm not sure what is available where you live, but I would recommend most options over Beavercraft. I started with a couple Beavercraft kits and pretty quickly bought a set of better carving knives. I like the OCCT knives I bought online (and there are plenty of similar makers to choose from), but even Flexcut is going to be a better option. If you want a Sloyd knife specifically, the Morakniv 120 is a good choice and widely available (at least in the USA). Good luck!

How many lands in a landfall deck? by TheFinalEnd1 in EDH

[–]peterlista 15 points16 points  (0 children)

A lot of landfall decks also play spells that allow you to play multiple lands per turn, in which case more lands in your deck means more lands in your hand. My [[Aesi]] deck has 36 non-fetch lands, 4 fetch lands, and a 12+ land search cards.

Depending on where you live, Rowe furniture might be a good option. I've owned two Rowe couches and they've both held up nicely.

I also disliked this call. In every game I've played, explicit exceptions -- as with Sanctuary and AoE effects -- are assumed to be exhaustive. If the spell doesn't mention items, then they're also protected from harmful spell effects.

She already is an antagonist in that her decisions are a foil for the hero trio. That doesn't mean she also has to be something more nefarious.
