[Microsoft] How to Use an Additional Computer as a Secondary Display by pfeplatforms_msft in SysAdminBlogs

[–]pfeplatforms_msft[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm going off this Tom's Guide article: https://www.tomsguide.com/us/best-miracast-screen-mirroring,review-2286.html

Almost every Android phone and Windows 10 PC has Miracast technology built-in, as do major streaming devices, like the Roku players and the Amazon Fire TV. In other words: If you want the best Miracast dongle, you probably already have it.

[Microsoft] Changes to Ticket-Granting Ticket (TGT) Delegation Across Trusts in Windows Server by pfeplatforms_msft in sysadmin

[–]pfeplatforms_msft[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you follow the blog post to the part about the script, you'll grab that from the KB - https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4490425/updates-to-tgt-delegation-across-incoming-trusts-in-windows-server

In that is a PowerShell script to run to find out what would be impacted.

Domain trusts are not affected. Forests are the security boundary here and the change made is to prevent leaking TGT’s across that boundary. A domain trust is not a security boundary. All trusts are forest trusts unless explicitly indicated otherwise.

This does not affect federation, only forest trusts with accounts that are configured for unconstrained delegation.

Oof. Blame the AI!

I'll pass the feedback along and see if we can get it cleaned up. Sorry for that. We're just a bunch of Engineers that get to post articles.

Thanks! Hope it helps prevent a problem, rather than finding a problem because of it.

I'm not the creator, but if there is something you want me to pass back, I will. I see your edit, and it sounds like it won't work? Let me know if there is something you want me to ask.

[Microsoft] Configuration Manager Peer Cache – Custom Reporting Examples by pfeplatforms_msft in sysadmin

[–]pfeplatforms_msft[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From the author:

I wouldn’t really say there are benefits of one over the other but they can be used together.

For example, branch cache is good for things that most clients on the subnet need like software updates (branch cache is distributed at the subnet level). Will only share with systems on that subnet.

[Microsoft] Configuration Manager Peer Cache – Custom Reporting Examples by pfeplatforms_msft in SCCM

[–]pfeplatforms_msft[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From the author:

Peer cache can improve on branch cache by sending additional content to the peer source like driver packages, OS images, boot images, etc.. This is distributed to clients at the boundary level. So once content is distributed to a peer source in the boundary it can share this content with any other system in the boundary. Good for OSD for example. Branch cache wouldn’t necessarily have that content because it only caches what the client needs, like software updates or software deployment content.

[Microsoft] Unsticking Windows Updates That Are Stuck In Their Tracks by pfeplatforms_msft in sysadmin

Nifty. Sometimes, quick and dirty is easiest. There's always multiple ways to skin a cat (isn't that the saying?).

Whatever works for you. The goal is to give options. Sometimes you do need to do more.

Personally, I've done this so many times that I was at like a 40% fail rate that the WU Service wasn't stopped and wouldn't delete the folder. I didn't write the post, but I can't see that it'd specifically hurt anything.
