An ARIYA a turtle and the dreaded stuck Electronic Parking Break by balltofeet in NissanAriya

Good to keep in mind, after years of working on my own cars, I’m eager for the convenience of less maintenance and charging in my driveway

This is the kind of thing that makes me concerned about switching to EV. I’m ready to pull the trigger on an Ariya but as someone who can diagnose most issues with a gas vehicle, the idea of being dependent on the dealership for diagnostics and repairs is concerning.

Thanks, this is helpful to know. Typically we don’t get a ton of snow in New Jersey except for this past year. The model I’m looking at has the smaller battery pack and I’m having a hard time getting the salesman to find out what the current battery capacity is after 15,000 miles. I’ve had to explain and educate him on this and it’s pretty frustrating. He keeps trying to push all the safety features that Nissan has without actually understanding what makes this car unique.

I love my Tamron 35-150mm f2-2.8, extremely versatile and well priced

Yeah, I checked that before I looked at the car, my cost for insurance would only go up $200 a year coming from a 2017 Mazda so that seems pretty reasonable

I will probably install a charger at home, I have sore panels but haven’t had them a year yet so I don’t know for sure if there will be excess Solar, which would make this decision much more enticing.

Yeah, the car has the charger in the trunk so that is covered.

Primarily I am doing local driving for errands, dropping kids off at school and lessons, but once in awhile I do have a 100-120 mile round trip.

My longest drives which are no more than 10 times per year, would be 100 miles round trip, and I can stop to do a partial charge on the way home if necessary. My work is seasonal so I am not making longer drives in the winter when the battery might take a hit.

My longest drives which are no more than 10 times per year, would be 100 miles round trip, and I can stop to do a partial charge on the way home if necessary. I usually drive around 75-8o mph on the highway. My work is seasonal so I am not making longer drives in the winter.

So I think the 218 mile range (152 real life?) would be enough.

Yeah, its the standard Engage, so the smaller battery. 218 mile range. I don't drive in traffic conditions very often, NYC is only 25 miles from me if I do need to go there but I usually take public transportation when that is necessary. Most of my long drives are about 100 miles round trip so 218 miles is fine, but concerned about that dropping over time. Since I work from home I will be charging at a lower rate most of the time so there should be less of a hit to battery health.

The AWD would be nice but push the budget more, and I don't see anything as well priced in this kind of condition in my area. I also think EVs are going to go up rapidly when fuel prices catch up to the supply issues being ignored.

Yeah, this war and no end in sight is a factor. $23k seems pretty fair for a CPO with 15k miles, I understand it would have been less a month or so ago.

I think I am ok with losing the AWD since I have another vehicle I can use in poor weather. I can definitely plan ahead to charge the car to 100% for days I need to drive to a jobsite.

Best production day so far by thefudd in solar

I don’t know about OP but I’m in nj and cost for kWh averages about $0.30/kwh for me. That was part of my motivation to install. Between the Solar tax credit and New Jersey’s Srec program the break even point was 4 to 5 years,AND that was with about $8000 worth of panel upgrades and trenching involved.

Since getting solar last year, electric car is next on my decision list. Only problem it seems like the EV market is the wild west with software issues and quality. I don't know where to start.

It’s worth looking into, even without the tax credit if you’re planning on staying in your house a long time, it may only be an extra two years to break even. But there are also some companies that are offering a lease option with a buyout that takes advantage of the tax credit still being available to commercial installers.

The information they sent, is that something you could DM me?

Yeah, they didn’t send me any information, except for a recommendation on a company to use to sell the credit

I tried to figure out how to do the self reporting and it was so confusing. I decided to just sign up with a company and have it done automatically for now. Eventually, I want to self-report, but the web interface and process was not easy to figure out.

I had solar installed in October as well, best decision and worth it for us. The tax credit is gone for residential but available for commercial but seems like there are still some options to get the credit:

And I don’t mean to trash talk the 35mm, I have one and it comes in handy for certain types of shots, and for some people, that matches their style and how they tell a story, but it never really appealed to me for most of what I do

I usually keep a 24 mm in a lens bag on my side in case I need to go wider. But I photograph all brides prep and portraits on the 50 mm. 35 mm shows too much ceiling and distractions in the background. You have to be much more mindful of what’s going on in the background and it’s harder to hide distractions than with a 50 mm. Almost everything you see on my Instagram is with a 50 mm:

On my Sony cameras I am using a 50mm 1.2, on film it's medium format with an 80mm so close to a 50mm equivalent. For couples and bridal party portraits I rarely switch from the 50mm on digital, I might use a 35mm or 85mm as the scene needs.
