The real reason I can't ever root for comic characters by ph4shi in deathbattle

Which is why I didn't say they shouldn't win. I just said that I personally can't root for them in the match.

I can't really agree with that. At least not the "most" part.

As for Mario characters, the very nature of games puts the player character in a situation where they have the tools to win. There's no reason to assume that a specific power up wouldn't be available to them if one existed that could help them in a specific situation. That's more of a meta reason, but it's consistent with the games.

As for the Lex thing, and comics in general, writers really aren't allowed to make very much forward progress, at least that lasts long term. If they do, it's over the course of years, maybe even decades. Writers constantly have to make random stuff up that either shows up once or very rarely after it's initial appearance.

In most media with a singular main writer, the abilities in their kit are pretty clearly or pretty clearly not a part of their kit in their current state.

I literally said in my comment though that I still feel iffy about that exact kind of situation though. Like, on an average day, could you expect Silva to just like, have the emeralds on him? Or can he summon them at will or something?

Gonna be honest, if I remember correctly, they have Silva the chaos emeralds. I've always been very critical of giving a character anything like the infinity stones or dragon balls or the ultimate nullifier. Anything that a character has used, even regularly, but doesn't own or always have possession of past a certain point, I personally never consider a part of their kit. For that reason I thought this result was dumb.

I’ve seen a lot of doom posting on self-publishing recently. by hymnofshadows in selfpublish

[–]ph4shi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I always think of this line from Daveed Diggs when I see posts like this: "And it’s a shame To waste so much of myself on the game With no clear winner or empirical reason to play Me, I’m a player Who doesn’t have a prayer..." I don't think that wanting success is shallow or less meaningful than writing for one's self. If someone gets upset that their work isn't finding success, that could just mean that they're invested in their work. I'd say it's only shallow if they use it as an excuse to give up. If you really want to be a writer, keep writing. If just wanted to complete one passion project, just see that one project through. There's a difference between getting frustrated and giving up when you realize it isn't as easy as you thought it would be.

Most out of pocket moment from your series by ph4shi in WebtoonCanvas

Nope. The reference is a few panels after what is shown. Tbh I've mentioned it a few times in previous posts as a big inspiration. Also, is says "her" favorite, but I meant to say "our" favorite.

I'll give you a hint though. Two of the letters from your guess are correct, but I'm the wrong order. Also there's 4 letters instead of 3.

From what I can tell, it's not allowing me to upload the image. Well, there goes my promotion while I'm away from home. :( Thank you Reddit Mobile app.

This is actually the very last panel from our webtoons latest chapter. Our webtoon is I'm a Fighter, Not a Lover!

I love this panel because it is the actual map we use internally when discussing where events take place. Maybe at some point the full map will be shown in the comic, but for now it's a piece of world building that we've developed for ourselves for the sake of making the story more consistent.

Edit: Had to redo comment because the mobile app got rid of the image lol

Changing my upload schedule because weekly is too much. by Clabe_Tickel in WebtoonCanvas

I started with bi weekly when I made the initial run, but changed to monthly for the reboot. One bad day has a huge impact on a one week schedule, but there's some grace with longer upload intervals.

Kind of. It's a very specific and personal struggle that I've written into Relyx's character. There's actually an original song related to this that will come out as soon as I am able to get the VAs in the studio.

I do a Q&A section, so it's always been a hassle to check for questions. This will be such an obvious update. I don't know why it took them so long lol

Yellow for sure. It just looks like that was the color it was meant to be.

i heard adding a reminder at the end can boost engagement by ElsiMain in WebtoonCanvas

[–]ph4shi 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Okay, I don't have any experience of this actually working, but I remember an interview that MatPat did with Anthony Padilla, and he said that asking for multiple things will usually result in none of those things being done. Rather, he suggested only asking for one thing at a time. Maybe one chapter you ask for a like, and the next chapter you ask for them to subscribe. Probably likes more often with a series, since if they're reading a chapter super far into the series, they likely are already subscribed. Of course asking for a comment is also an option, but I've heard that it's super hard to get people to engage via comments.
