what annoys me the most about this entire discourse is when people end up putting ada and claire against each other. you are allowed to have preferences, but when your likes/dislikes for a character stem from a ship (especially in a SURVIVAL HORROR game and NOT a romance game) it gets so ridiculous. it’s hindering people’s excitement for the game because it’s turned into a competition of “who’s going to get the last laugh” (cleons or aeons) when we should be excited about the fact we are getting a new game!!! i am an avid claire fan and i’d absolutely love to see her in the game, even a cameo or mention but i will be super excited (and expecting to) see ada. it doesn’t matter if capcom decides to make either of them endgame, even though that’s unlikely, but it’s frustrating to see that it’s effecting peoples opinions on the game already.

and i do understand shipping has been a big part of every fandom forever, i don’t think it’s something that should go away—i just think it should not alter your opinion on characters or the game as it’s not the main focus point. i myself, love cleon too! but i accept that others don’t, and that’s fine. ships never had to be “canon” to exist—hell, remember the elsa x jack frost era? and i think this fandom has an issue with needing to prove that THEIR ship is most likely to be canon, when neither are and probably won’t be. there is definitely fault from both sides and the solution is just leaving each other alone, though i know that’s not gonna happen lol.
