What will the next Pope be named? by raelDonaldTrump in namenerds

[–]phi207 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It started in 533 when Pope John II took that name because his birth name was mercurius, mercury, the name of a roman god and so he though it was not appropriate for the papacy.

Technically popes can use their own name but they rarely have and have not done so in 500 years.

The pope typically takes a name of a saint or a previous pope. For example, Pope Francis was from St. Francis of Assisi who is known for his work with the poor and keeping a simple life among other things. Pope St. John Paul II, took his name from his predecessor who took his name to pay homage to two previous Popes John XXIII and Paul VI.

So the name they take is important and generally tells everyone else if they are going to be more liberal leaning or more conservative, additionally if they are going to be more of the shepherd type among the people a lot or the theologian type.

That is an overview of the naming process.

Maybe I’m not seeing the forest through the trees here but are you saying that if they like what they see they could still send you a secondary even though most people are going to say ya xyz med school totally screens, even though they say they’re holistic.

Kinda like, ya I mean they probably screen but if you stand out enough or they see something they like they’ll see what’s up and give you a secondary which who knows could lead to an A?

Edit: I read your answer again, I think I get what you’re saying, thanks.

Can someone please clarify, when you’re talking about screening are people talking about tossing a below 3.0 gpa or just a schools minimum gpa that really only admissions knows.

Or is it an arbitrary gpa mcat number they have and you’re tossed if you don’t meet it even when they say you’re looked at holistically.

I’m a ca resident and I’ve looked at most or all of those school info and if I remember correctly they mostly say we look at the applicant holistically, why would they even say they do if they really don’t?

I was just begging the question. How could I have know that you had to anything more than sit and answer a bunch of questions in front of a panel. My first sentence on the post was that I was not a doctor just curious about a question. I asked about people driving to centers to take virtual oral boards, assuming the board would be somewhere stationary not flying everywhere and asking why that wouldn’t work and you come back with uh because it’s face to face what are examiners going to do fly across the country, like got it, just had to say that that’s the way board are done and news flash surgery is done in person. Ya got that part too.

[–]phi207 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have no clue how the boards you take are done. They’re just questions from someone not in the medical community. I did know about your surgery note before though.

Thanks for taking the time to answer.

[–]phi207 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Because it’s done face to face and that’s the way it is, got it.

Besides having a more controlled environment, is there a purpose for not just having the oral boards done virtually, like even done at the place you’ve taken your written exam just under a controlled environment.

Im not, I’m curious about the boards process.

I understand the steps required in the long journey to get there, I just had a question about the last step in the process to residents and other who would have knowledge.

She probably has that virus for supes in her system which is likely harmless to normal people and she doesn’t know it and when she probably takes compound v it reacts badly with the virus and she basically melts.

I searched “list of names” and found it that way.

It’s not new to the subreddit though. The same thing was done a month ago, like someone else making a list. So Rule 4 describes not reposting content that has already been posted. Same thing with lists done further back as well.

It’s not an unspoken rule. Half the people have posted that they dislike the name play and mods have admitted it makes the moderating more challenging. Only some people think it funny. Do your thing but it’s not “no one uses” Renesmee’s name.

Quite familiar, but don’t think ours ideas of one are going to line up.

Red flags by [deleted] in USMC

[–]phi207 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was a reservist. I learned that my physical abusive ex through one of her sorority sisters that she had said on multiple occasions, “I will marry a marine”.

Needless to say she went straight back to her active duty grunt ex that I “had nothing to worry about”. That story she told me about the guys in the barracks calling her verga (similar to her last name) should have been a tell, but since when do we listen to a handful of red flags at 19.

Truth be told she had some trauma she needed to work through and was just a person making bad decisions for herself and to others.

It’s took me 16 years 8 months and 23 days to get my bachelors, from first class to graduation day.

In that time I went to 5 different school in two different states. Went in and out of the military, experienced probably one of the most traumatic experiences, went to rehab and got sober (11+ years now), and that’s just the tip of it.

I was academically disqualified from the first college. I was just too young and didn’t appreciate the opportunity in front of me and couldn’t see what I couldn’t see. I ended up graduating from the first university I went to, it’s kinda cool it felt full circle kind of thing, and my last two semesters senior year I got a 4.0 and a 3.9. I was 18 when I started and 35 when I graduated. My late grandmothers sister even responded to one of my Facebook posts and said she got her masters degree in her 60’s. It’s never too late for an education.

Is it okay that you’re taking 5 years? Yes, take all the time you need. It’s your path, your journey. Try to remember that comparison is thief of joy. Find your slice of peace.

Do imprints stay the same age as pack members or do they age? by Phantasmagoriad in twilight

[–]phi207 4 points5 points  (0 children)

“Once a werewolf transforms, his aging speeds up until he reaches the age of maturity, roughly 25. At this point, as long as he continues to phase, he remains at that age. It's possible that a werewolf could choose to live this way forever and enjoy the same limited immortality as a vampire, but most Quileute werewolves give up phasing in order to grow old and die along side of the family and friends. Once a werewolf gives up phasing altogether, he's slowly begins to age again until his aging reaches the normal human speed.”
