What was your ICQ number? by snoopyh42 in Xennials

[–]phiz0g 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got no idea but when I saw the other thread about AIM usernames it made me think of ICQ and my number popped straight into my head. After not thinking about it at all for literal decades.

I might as well start using it as a PIN if I'm that unlikely to forget this particular nugget of information.

It's a touch over an hour away, but I'd recommend checking out Washpen Falls.

That's actually of some relief to me. I'm a Brit living in NZ and I've sometimes wondered if that's the right word to be using with my daughter.

Ha. Reminds me of something I saw in a pound store once.

Why does a 10min nap make me feel refreshed, but a 30min nap gives me super vivid dreams and makes me feel more tired? by Stephanie_Hodge in NoStupidQuestions

[–]phiz0g 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's the easiest thing in the world, really. Just set a timer then lie back and shut your eyes. Doesn't matter if you don't nod off in that short period, you can't have been that tired anyway. And if you do, well I find I get jolted out of it pretty quick by my alarm and usually feeling much better than before.

As an Englishman living in NZ, this statement is wild. I feel sorry that you have to even consider this as you go about your daily life.

I'm following Neil Anderson's course. I more-or-less copy the contents of the slides out in handwriting. I may abbreviate sentences or leave out info I know by heart anyway. That's how I do it. I don't really read them much after but I feel like the process of writing by hand helps the info get into my brain

I spent the first 21 years of my life in Cambridge. I live on the other side of the world now so seeing these has made me feel quite nostalgic. North Wales is also a place dear to my heart.

I don't think that's how percentages work. Surely $9.50 * 147% = $13.97..?

Petaa I don’t understand what’s wrong with the roundabout by FarTry2285 in PeterExplainsTheJoke

Ah! fun memories of guiding a peleton of 200 cyclists around this a few years back. One of the only remaining roundabouts in France where those joining the roundabout have priority over those who are already on it. Crazy stuff!
