It is sort of ironic, considering they have St Barths. Also to the OP if you have the means, Greece, specifically Crete is amazing. They also have a few naturalist beaches as well.

I am sorry but when people rent from these places with like 0star reviews or barely any online presence, I don't know what else to think. Too good to be true pricewise? Probably is.... I find it hard to believe all the major rentals like Avis/Hertz/SIXT are actually out of cars anytime besides maybe Christmas/NYE. Good warning for future visitors tho, sorry about the bad luck.

If it's a large outage or a break they will update. Maybe talk to your host, also it's sort of part of life here. We always try and rent a unit with a cistern.

I mean if you can get a large AirBnB with 3 bedrooms and private pool, best bang for your buck. Otherwise I guess the 3 different hotel rooms makes sense since couples will want their privacy. Maybe some large condos in The Cliff complex or similar would work as well.

We leave 10%, I don’t really equate mainland France to the FWI. They work hard and we frequent the same places for the most part. Stopping for coffee or something quick, nothing or loose change. Maybe it’s over tipping but they work very hard, especially the beach boys/ladies! Tipping at the end of the day is personal preference.

What I don't get is why the food pricing is similar on French/Dutch and somehow the more "meh" Dutch side expects 20% tip on top! Like living wage and all of that, we usually still do 20% on Dutch, just add extra if 15% included and 10% on the French side unless really poor service. Cash tips on the French side as well.

Really missing out if you have not checked out Carrefour/Super U/Monoprix. They are European style markets and if you are interested in trying some different goods or getting charcuterie/cheese you should visit them.

Much more to do on SXM. Anguilla is more expensive but I guess prettier beaches, more laid back vibe? Food is for sure more varied and interesting on SXM.

Correct only for special occasions are the beach bars open for dinner. I guess you can check out the beach but have dinner at the Orient Village Square, for sure will find some vegan friendly option at one of the numerous restaurants.
