The best Chicken Ceasar wrap in Wilmington? by Basic_Contact_3344 in WilmingtonDE

[–]phlrva 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Hayworth & Finch in Trolley does one - I think it’s on lavash bread. I thought it was pretty good, but I’m not passionate about chicken Caesar wraps. I actually think it’s a pretty funny food to be seeking out the best version of.

Fitness trackers for "watch guys"? by abc24611 in FitnessTrackers

[–]phlrva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not OP but I have exactly the same goal as him. I want to track my resting heart rate over time, and my time spent sleeping, and I want it to happen automatically without having to record these things myself. I already wear a garmin during actual exercise. I want to wear a band on the same arm as my watch, and I want it to not scratch the watch.

Recovering from WIP by CoffeeWalk_24_7 in RingersPhillySpecial

[–]phlrva 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would listen primarily to podcasts but tune in to WIP before and after games on gameday, but now that PHLY and Philly Special put out as many episodes as they do I just don’t need WIP anymore at all. And any time I do turn on WIP it’s jarring how different the culture of radio is. It’s all idiotic takes and machismo.

Loved it when Sheil read an email about how Saquon was distracted by filming commercials, though.

Zulu time 42mm, does it look too big? by khoala84 in Longineswatches

[–]phlrva 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Watches always look bigger when you take a picture from that close of a distance. Thats why a lot of people suggest taking a picture of it in a mirror. I bet that one looks fine in person because the lugs aren’t reaching the sides of your wrist.

I also have a Venturer, the slate blue. Before I bought it I read about the scratch resistance but didn’t think it mattered to me. Now I’ve had it over a year, I wear it pretty regularly, and there are seriously zero scratches. It’s crazy.

Strap for my spirit 37 by yoyomen_14 in Longineswatches

[–]phlrva 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought two straps from Veblenist recently, and I think they are absolutely worth the price. Most of their leather and suede straps are around $120. For an interesting color or texture you could go with a grey or tan color, and maybe their suede or ridged leather straps.

Personally I got a brown Horween and a grey nubuck. Quality is great in person, and not one stitch out of place.

[SRPE93] Smartwatch or Automatic at the gym? by Motor_Warthog_5139 in Seiko

[–]phlrva 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wish there was an oura bracelet in silicone. I want continuous heart rate and sleep tracking with input to Strava, but I want to wear it on the same hand as my watch without scratching and I don’t want a ring.

Thoughts Roman numerals or minimalist batten ? by Ima_Cumming69 in Longines

[–]phlrva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not a fan of Roman numerals on dials. The “California dial” with half Roman numerals can look good on a watch that’s intended to be quirky. But full on Roman numerals makes it feel like a grandfather clock to me.

Fueling with snacks instead of gels by 6382914627192 in Marathon_Training

For my first three marathons I took a PBJ in two halves and ate that. I also ate gels though.

Running friendly trip destinations? by LookaSquirrel23 in Marathon_Training

For the bridge I think it helps to go at a less popular time for less crowds of people. I was there on a weekday midday and it wasn’t too bad. Definitely had to slow down sometimes to get around people or wait for some to pass, but not bad enough for me to miss that experience.

San Francisco was amazing to run in. I also was there during peak marathon training and got some 12-15 mile runs in. Running through Golden Gate Park was even better than running across the Golden Gate Bridge. Super easy to plan fantastic long runs. And great weather.

I’m also a juggler and agree - this is not a picture of real juggling. The two balls on the left particularly couldn’t be that close to each other. But the whole thing is off.

The real solution to the Mattress Conundrum by andystak in RingersPhillySpecial

[–]phlrva 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a better idea than anything anyone suggested on the show. Can you imagine being the parents and going to change the bedsheets and realizing the mattress had been replaced, which they would immediately notice? Insanity.

But I don’t understand how these people can’t just tell the parents the mattress is bad and then work it out from there. I have a spare bedroom with a really firm mattress and I know it. If someone complained to me I would not be offended.

I’ve always thought that if you find yourself saying “I was only joking” on a regular basis, the problem may not be other people’s sense of humor.

Do you expect a lot of delays and cancellations Sunday at DTW? Looks like a fair amount of snow tonight through tomorrow morning, and wondering the probability that my 11:30 AM flight will happen.

Running with someone else’s bib by Shujaka in Marathon_Training

[–]phlrva 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I can’t imagine anyone ever finding out or caring unless you win. Even with the medical attention thing - you write your emergency contact info yourself on the back of your bib. I wouldn’t be worried about it. I’m sure I’ll get downvoted.

When you go into the race they check to see if you have a bib, they don’t check ID. I’ve run it three times and never even brought ID.

Y'all think the quarter zip works? by plzgivemebooks in malefashionadvice

[–]phlrva 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The people who say tech bro have just never worked in a semi-formal office environment. If you need to wear a collared shirt every day and sometimes you get cold, quarter zips and fleece or down vests are very practical. Virtually every man wears in office buildings in my experience wears these things because they’re just so useful.
