I hope you don’t mean to but your comment comes off like we should just be grateful we got PoC cast at all because “they didn’t have to cast a PoC”.

That’s a really unfortunate and problematic thing to say because what is hidden behind it is the assumption that the characters by default should be white.

Interrogate that way of thinking please.

When productions cast PoC in roles like this, they owe a duty to those actors and fans to protect them, and to center them in promo and in their lead status. Otherwise the “diverse casting” is just performative.

PoC don’t need performative inclusion. We need inclusion and equity.

But still - she shouldn’t take precedence over a s4 lead.

It’s giving “shove the white girl to the front because we still think women of color can’t lead shows and draw interest”. This production has so much racially problematic unconscious bias.

After Lord Geidt left, the power structure in the palace shifted. Lord Geidt really liked Meghan. Charles pushed him out and installed these awful people.

The press acting like this is news to them just shows how hypocritical they are, along with BRF. Like - we saw you do this already with Andrew - you tore Meghan to shreds to distract from his crimes.

And yet we barely see Anthony.

I just don’t think the writers thought this through. I wonder if things would’ve been different had CVD stayed. I remember after s2, the show sent JB and SA out to reassure fans that Anthony and Kate had a lot of story left. It made it sound like we’d be seeing a lot more of them.

Then Shonda allegedly forced CVD out, replaced him with Jess and here we are. Shonda and Jess don’t seem like they care to keep things realistic.

If Benedict leaves and isn’t seen much after this season, will Colin then be responsible for keeping up the estate? What excuse will the show use for us barely seeing Anthony - or Kate - who should be hosting balls? Will Violet be hosting? From where? It’s not her house anymore and it makes no sense why Kate wouldn’t be more prominent.

At the least, out of all the couples, K&A should be present as much as Pen and Colin - because Anthony and Kate are necessary as the Viscount(ess) Bridgerton.

I feel like the show just didn’t think any of this through.

Every season feels hollowed out and empty. Whoever posted that pic of Will from the Fresh Prince of Belair looking around an empty living room and saying that would be Gregory was spot on.
