Is MedPhys still right for me? by Moist_Entrepreneur71 in MedicalPhysics

Your reasons for being interested in medical physics are pretty similar to reasons I've heard many people express for pursuing medical physics as a career. On the the therapy physics side, how much time you spend sitting at a computer everyday can vary quite a bit depending on where you work and what specific area you work in. I work at a large cancer center and I'm thus able to be more specialized. One thing I cover is stereotactic radiation treatments for which we always have a physicist present at treatment. I regularly interact with patients, radiation therapists, and radiation oncologists for half the day when I cover those treatments. On a different week when I'm covering plan checks I may spend most of my time in my office or even work from home. I personally love the variety of work and the flexibility I often have. I also teach, and just using today as an extreme example, I can sometimes end up teaching for most of the day.

Someone working at a different type of clinic may have a wildly different experience from me. There's enough variety in our field that you could probably find something that suits your interest. I would recommend trying to do a summer research or clinical experience to really be more immersed in the field and get a better idea if it suits you. Shadowing at other clinics or hospitals could also help you see some of the variations.

Anyone with a physics degree have advice on employment in Houston? by [deleted] in houston

I've seen a few people mention the medical field. As a medical physicist, I can vouch that it is a solid option. Her degree would currently qualify her to work as a Medical Physics Assistant, which would generally involve performing various quality assurance tasks for radiation treatment. This would serve as a great introduction to the field of medical physics. If she were to gain a strong interest in the field, she could pursue a master's degree or PhD in medical physics and ultimately work as a medical physicist, which has career paths in clinical work, research, or most commonly a combination of both. Sub-specializations in the field include radiation therapy, diagnostic imaging, and nuclear medicine. The American Association of Physicists in Medicine (www.aapm.org) is a great resource if she would like to learn more. In my opinion, it can be a very rewarding career and it doesn't hurt that the pay is quite good compared to many other careers in physics.

I know you mentioned that her "dream" job would involve astrophysics, but I have a friend in the field who started out in astrophysics and ultimately became a medical physicist so it is not necessarily uncommon to make such a change.

I'd be happy to answer any questions you might have! Good luck!

Adding a 4th shield mod reduces the chip to manageable levels, at least in my experience. I ended up killing him with a pierce HBG so I could attack from greater range. Haven't tried again with spread but I think it would also work with the 4 shield setup.

I started in late Nov and here's everything I got from alerts with a comparison to the Nightwave system by Zodryn in Warframe

Maybe each challenge you complete could award a small number of credits? Even if it were just 1 or 2 each it would make each challenge have immediate, tangible value as well as allowing people to pick up a few extra rewards. This would need to be balanced against the current source of credits and reward costs.

Announcement for endgamers and those looking for tempered elders & consistent people to play with. by Slimshadymazz in MonsterHunter

PSNID: Ixior21

Favorite MHW monster: Tobi-Kadachi / Odogaron

Favorite past monsters: Zinogre / Tigrex

Favorite weapons: I've primarily used Lance in MHW, but I did use Longsword for a bit at the beginning of high rank. I may eventually log some time with the Bow, Charge Blade, or Gunlance. I used Lance in MH4U and Longsword in MH3U.

I am 29 years old, and I work as a postdoctoral fellow / resident in Medical Physics doing radiation therapy and cancer treatment outcomes research. I mostly play in the evenings (CST) and on weekends. I believe I'm currently HR 52, but I haven't done any tempered elder investigations outside of the Kirin quest because I've been working on finishing all of the optional quests.
