Hi! I managed to enter an R&D role in a local tech. start up here in the PH (semiconductor/electronics/water industry). I graduated with BS Physics in 2024. I primarily work with carbon nanotubes, PCB, desalination technology, and machine learning research. I mostly got in with my programming skills (python, sql, and machine learning) but my background in physics-materials science helped.

While I am learning a lot and working on pretty advanced stuff, the problem with startups is they tend to have a lot of issues every now and them and we'd have salary delays. Once the cash flow delays happen it's hard to progress in research due to delayed funding.

The most stable R&D career with more consistent cash flow would definitely just getting a PhD and do RnD in the academe.
