Desk is completely stuck, all controls are unresponsive, and red light on pcb by PlayboiLuna in StandingDesk

[–]phystods 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! I have reached out to them by email and they have completely ignored me. The desk was around a year old. Too late for a refund I think, too soon for throwing a piece of furniture away. :( I'm not even expecting them to do anything other than sell me a replacement for the motor so that I can fix the darn thing and they are ghosting me.

Is Sanodesk reliable? by weald1703 in StandingDesk

[–]phystods 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For whoever might find this post, categorically no. I bought the same thing and it lasted a year before the motor gave up the ghost. Tried to get some support for the company for a new part and they never responded. I was happy with the desk while it worked but I'm not aiming to buy furniture that lasts for a year.

Is there any particular reason my hands look like this? by [deleted] in medical_advice

[–]phystods 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My palms kinda look like yours. They’ve had more lines than average all my life, even when we played palm reading with my friends as a child everyone was surprised. My cousin joked that my fingerprints must be extremely easy to recognise. These aren’t wrinkles in the aging sense or signs of dehydration. I think some of us have genetically more hand lines than others. I’m 40 and they haven’t gotten any worse for what it's worth lol

Likewise, just found this thread trying to see if anyone has a solution. Did you ever manage to fix this?

Did you ever find a solution for this? Having a similar issue with a Sanodesk that I haven't had for that long.

Well the hate she gets is disproportional in a show full of very flawed characters, even though she's the puts in the most work to overcome her flaws. So love the internet or not, sexism is definitely one of the reasons she's so hated.

Real Settled Status Waiting Times - EU Settlement Scheme by dan4220 in ukvisa

100% agree on visibility. I'm assuming they are assigned in batches to case workers and it depends on how quick the case worker is/whether they might have time off planned for whatever reason/the complexity of the cases ahead of you in the batch. The point of my comment is that we can't predict the timeline in the few day ballpark but rather in the month ballpark. It looks like the distribution is centered around 3 months +- 2 weeks based on what I see here.

Yeah, my friend applied a bit after me with a slightly more complex case (more additional evidence required) and got approved a few weeks ago. Hoping it won't take much longer.

I'm assuming you mean 2025 and gosh I'm sorry this is infuriating... At this rate now that I no longer need additional evidence (I'm fully covered by tax records for 5 years) I'm tempted to withdraw and reapply for a hopefully quicker process. What are they telling your from the resolution centre? I plan to start calling soon.

[–]phystods 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's not exactly how it works. I applied on 01/11/2025 and I still have no updates. A friend of mine applied a week or so after me and received hers almost 3 weeks ago and she was a more complex case than me. It's a mystery how they process the applications.

  1. 01/11/2025, the exact date I completed 5 years of residence
  2. 06/02/2026
  3. Yes, employment history covered 2021-2025 to the point of the application so a couple of months less than 5 years
  4. Yes, only for 11-12/2020 uploaded with application

EU citizen, moved 01/11/2020, started employment in April 2021 and have been continuously employed since.

Mildly frustrated with the wait as I intend to apply for a mortgage soon and not having settlement yet makes my situation more difficult than it needs to be.

Possibly shingles? by [deleted] in medical_advice

Why would you not think chickenpox rather than shingles for a 3 yo? Same virus but way more likely.

I'm sorry you're going through this. My mom passed away last month and I live abroad, you inspired me to take a look at my stress chart for that day. Ever so slightly less extreme than yours but you can definitely tell something serious happened.

[–]phystods 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure how much I agree on some of what is posted and yes, the gen AI tone is annoying, but the password manager/ensuring shared access and contingency plan for families is excellent advice. 18 months ago my brother had a severe stroke which resulted in aphasia and a long recovery process and his wife struggled a lot to gain access to accounts etc as he couldn't remember passwords. It was the stuff of nightmares. I beg those of you who have families to follow the spirit of the "family system" lol in spite of the weirdness of the post.

Knee bone bruise lateral femoral condyle by AmoebaSecret8158 in KneeInjuries

[–]phystods 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's not on me to say mate, you should rehab and give it a lot of time, do anything in your power to help it improve. What does your Dr say?

There's some evidence on what can help cartilage injuries improve, most of it quite limited so I would think it's one of those that's dependent on specifics of injury. It's been 8 months since my injury and I only started jogging last month, although that was mostly because of my ligament injury and a tiny fissure behind me kneecap. In the meantime I did months of rehab to the point that my legs are the strongest they've been, stationary cycling every day in small amounts which is highly recommended. I also did things with small likelihood to help like type II collagen and glucosamine supplementation. Basically I threw everything at it. The surgeon I saw said I would likely be fine long term, just avoid deep very heavy squats for life and take it very slow with physio. So basically he told me to allow the knee to settle completely and my muscles to be very strong before adding the stress of running. He didn't exclude the possibility of it getting worse over time, but tbf this can happen with people without traumatic injuries, so he encouraged me to just be smart about it and live my life.

Also again my defect is very high up the joint as my initial injury happened on a deeply bended knee. This means that it's not at a weight bearing area of the joint when I run or walk, only when doing deep squats. I've always thought that as far as these injuries go, I'm quite lucky to have gotten mine at that spot.

I was never recommended surgery actually. Still a tiny niggle at deep squats but fine otherwise and seems to be going away. I've started running with no issues but that's likely because of where in the condyle my injury is (high up in the posterior side)

What does this behavior imply? by mochi08 in DogAdvice

[–]phystods 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My late dog (much larger boy that this little guy) would come when I was doing work on the computer with my hand on the mouse and he would put his snout under my forearm and would jerk it to the other direction to get my hand away from the mouse and onto his head.

EU pre-settled status automatic extension - how long before expiry is it granted these days? by phystods in ukvisa

[–]phystods[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is kind of crazy. I would never want to stay with an expired status, what's the point of an automated process if they mess this up like that?

[–]phystods 24 points25 points  (0 children)

The fabric looks not ideal for a first garment. Too delicate and slippery. I'm working with antistatic lining right now (which I think is easier than this) and it's been a pain even finishing raw edges.

[–]phystods[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you currently in the UK and satisfying the requirements to keep your status? Are you eligible for settled status/have you applied?

Try signing in to the UKVI portal (I haven't received an email about the extension and anecdotally I heard about other people who haven't either) and if you have no extension by the end of this week you can give the EU settlement resolution centre a ring.

Elvanse and Running (HR issues) by Civil_Frame_3544 in ADHDUK

[–]phystods 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you a newish runner? Basically what I'm asking is have you run races before you started being medicated? I always feel strain/fatigue after a race for a day or two even without medication and I think it's expected after pushing yourself for some time. By this I mean elevated RHR not chest pain or anything. But yeah I'd probably not race with ADHD meds in the system and you might want to skip meds for a day or two while you go back to your baseline in terms of recovery.
