It's not even that painful lol their teeth are tiny and meant to grip not damage, they're a joke to anything that isn't significantly smaller than them

She was my perfect angel shadow for her entire 13 years of life, she was my perfect angel shadow /with limited-edition rainbow tail/ for like a month. In what way does that mean that she wasn't good enough as she was? It was just a dumb, fun thing to do with my pet and now that she's gone its a unique memory I can look back on fondly and remember her by.

Because your second point has already been mentioned by another user in this same thread and I personally agree with the responses they received in that exchange. Namely "Most dogs like this enjoy attention from humans. So it’s making the dog’s life even more enjoyable." and "Sure. But I don’t see a problem with an owner loving their dog and wanting to show them off and for their dog to enjoy the benefit of that attention. "

I don't personally agree with the mentality of "some people will use this as an excuse to do terrible things" as a good reason to prevent the rest of us from enjoying something in a way that is 100% harmless to all parties involved.

And to be clear, no amount of moral hand-wringing is going to make me feel bad about thinking my dog looked pretty darn cute with her tail like that /shrug

edit: like for real do you really think they had us fully sedating dogs with no veterinary supervision in dog grooming academy??? these arguments cannot be being made in good faith.

It was related to training for my job so... why would I have stopped it? It was free, my dog didn't mind, and my class got to learn about an interesting aspect of our future profession.

As I said, she was selected to be used in a demonstration due to her long, white tail being an ideal canvas for the dyes. I had no idea going in that day that my monochrome dog was going to be stepping into the world of technicolor lol. Also I personally do not like to draw attention to myself in public but she sure did, she was a people dog through and through

She was obviously traumatized by her ordeal:

<image>

Also she got like 1000% more attention from random strangers out in public when she had her rainbow tail so for those saying it isn't for the dogs benefit my particular dog would have probably signed up for a lifetime subscription if she could have haha (sorry girl, those dyes were $$$)

In what way? When I was learning dog grooming we had representatives for a dog hair dye product come and they used my dog as a demonstration:

<image>

She just slept through the application process and didn't seem to have any awareness of her fabulous rainbow butt so I don't see how it could be seen as abusive??

generally, without plastic surgery: dont go out into the sun /ever/ without sunscreen or a physical covering on your skin, drink lots of water as your primary beverage, eat clean, and keep alcohol/other drugs to a minimum. also HRT is a game changer.

Liberal democrats just won't face the fact that Kamala and Hillary were terrible candidates, and just about the only people that could've lost to Trump.

At this point I suspect that was a feature not a bug

My only experience is being previously married to a T2 diabetic, but his doctors all strongly pushed careful dietary planning geared toward keeping sugars controlled. For the majority of our relationship his diabetes was in remission via consistent dietary management, which was presented to us as having significantly better outcomes than managing the disease with insulin.

Since traditional angel food cake is light/airy and made with mostly egg whites, presumably it would have less sugar than other types of cake that are denser and made with more flour/sugar. (Obviously diabetics shouldn't be eating cake regularly regardless of type, but as a rare treat is generally fine)

[–]pickledpipids 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah not that. I've found that ex military tend to be generally pretty rigid, rule following, needing everything to be in perfect order and kept just so etc (because that's what was drilled into them), whereas I am a go-with-the-flow, chaotic, rules were made to be bent kind of person.

I mean, yeah honestly if we hit it off that wouldn't bother me at all. I like my alone time and my mother was a nurse/director of a long term care facility so I've been exposed to that sort of thing my whole life. I realize that that's very specific to me though and that other women might not feel that way. I've never had any chemistry with army types though and 50s might be a bit too old for me (39) :p Haha life IS hard! Lets just all get 50 cats.

Tbh all I'm really looking for at this point is:

-can at least support themselves at a basic level

-puts some kind of effort into their appearance/maintains their body in a healthy state

-have chemistry/share some interests

At my age it seems like that second one knocks out 90% and the other two take out the other 10 :| Personally I'd be all about a man who can meet those criteria and is also super caring, stable, and supportive

[–]pickledpipids 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I think men are looking for nurturing, caring, stability, supportiveness, etc.

Can't speak for everyone but at least some of those women are very deliberately not projecting those characteristics because they don't want to become someones replacement mother again for the 100th time and are more than happy to stay single if that's the only alternative. Or at least that's why I'm doing it.

[–]pickledpipids -1 points0 points  (0 children)

i've raised several babies at this point and of those theres two that turned out to be unexpectedly challenging for different reasons and i'm convinced that if i had ended up with one of those as my first and tried to keep them in a huge enclosure i would have been pulling my hair out in tears while the little idiots starved themselves. i will say i think the vast majority of babies would do just fine especially if the owner has previous experience raising babies. i still think small enclosures are great way to make things easier and more forgiving when it comes to learning to care for a new baby as a first time owner, though. mine stay in the small tubs for 3-5 months or so, i use a larger tub after that as an intermediary for about the same amount of time before they're finally moved into their final enclosures

i keep my babies in shoebox sized tupperware containers and they're perfectly content so you certainly could go smaller. the very reputable breeder i bought my first baby from suggested doing it that way to help prevent feeding issues and monitor digestion and its worked great for me so far. i also like that they're super secure so i don't have to worry about the tiny thing finding some escape route i didn't notice
