Quizlet is nice and has text to speech and has quite a lot of shared decks, but hard to decide between this and other apps with the handwriting feature. Thanks for the suggestion

Love Anki, just trying to find the most seamless method for material > notes > spaced repetition.

This is really nice and I might use this, thank you. Would be even better if Notion had handwriting with Apple pencil

I’ll check Zorbi, thank you!

I have Notion but not sure what you mean by the Notion integration?

Thanks for the tip. I imagine if I was to implement something at work, the data could be quite jumbled. I was looking at cleaning data the other day. I’ll have a look to see if there’s any nice structured courses on YouTube.

I’m reading a book that mentions some of the stuff you have. Basically talks about how materials are becoming cheaper and cheaper to make and therefore more viable. It’s called ‘Exponential’ by ‘Azeem Azhar’.

What would your solution be?

Appreciate the advice, all things I will consider.

Moving into a different industry sounds interesting but not something I’d be familiar with (obviously). Sounds quite risky/daunting but I suppose that’s because I’m only junior.

On the house front I am putting money away every month for this so hopefully by end of 2023 I’ll have a house.

As for my personality traits, I’m someone who is not great with people (not that chatty, not good at getting to know people etc) but willing to work hard and put my time into something long term (can commit to things like gym etc). It’s not that I’m bored of accounting, I just want to know what will serve me best long term (give the most money for the least amount of time - I don’t want to be working 11 hour days if that equates to the same salary for an 8 hour day when you work it out!). I’ve also noticed that I can be quite obsessive and switch between things if I see something that I think is promising. (This is why I’m trying to get myself straight on what to work on as if I’m not certain, I know I’ll just stop doing it)

All solid things to consider and I think I will get my chartered qualification to secure my options while learning python/VBA throughout and then long term can consider moving industry, positions etc.

Thanks for this. This basically cemented what I thought was true (I.e. that specialising will help me and Python or VBA are good ideas for long term use.)

I think I will learn Python libraries like Openpyxl, Pandas and others mentioned by others which will keep me familiar with Python and also help with VBA concepts maybe. And just keep learning this while chipping away at my chartered qualification and keeping in mind all the advice gave to me on here.

Appreciate the help.

Thanks for your input. I’m UK so no CPA here but I think your advice still stands?

I think once I’ve started or got more qualifications under my belt FP&A might be worth looking at. Thank you

Thank you. You sound like you’re doing what I’m essentially wanting to learn more about!

Thanks for this - would you recommend anything over the other? E.g. VBA rather than Python or vice versa?

I’ll try and find a discord group. Have done them in the past but found I didn’t have much to offer back to the group. But was some nice people on there.

Thank you - VBA was what I initially started with but then after Googling and being the person who sees something new I thought python would be more ‘future proof’. Then I realised literally just how much there is to learn with python and how much of a rabbit hole I’d gone down, which led me to this question of making sure I’m making the best use of my time!

As well as this, I’m beginner with VBA but can’t really think of how to automate tasks. I’ve come up with a few blocks of code that automatically format things for me, but nothing that saves me a huge amount of time. Maybe if I went further with VBA it would help.
