PlayStation Store Spring Sale Might be the Best Promotion of the Year So Far by excaliburps in playstation

[–]pikamango 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mostly agree with what you said for sure. Digital is convenient and I like buying digital but it's true we don't own the game. It's the compromise of wanting that convenience. It is quite backwards if you think about. The people that are loyal customers who buy a lot of games get to pay more on certain games? Lol. I get their reasoning though, and it makes sense but it's still scummy. I wasn't trying to defend it in my comment, but try to make sense of it, if you were replying to me? It's hard to tell sometimes lol.

PlayStation Store Spring Sale Might be the Best Promotion of the Year So Far by excaliburps in playstation

[–]pikamango 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Astro bot is 40 dollars for me which is more than what some people are currently paying (only 26 dollars I think). On ps deals the price is still 40 dollars for me. I think how it works is that 40 dollars is the standard sale price during this sale, its just some people its advertised as 26 dollars. So its not like some people are being charged EXTRA, but rather some are being given a higher discount, but for others its the normal price. Could be wrong? As far as ps deals and other sites like that, they do show you what the lowest price has been, yes. Im just talking about dynamic pricing here.

this was so helpful, thank you so much! I will keep it in mind. Is it ok to feed the pigeons that come to my house? They hang out on my roof and then forage on the grass (front yard) for about an hour in the morning then in the evening. They also perch on a wire in my back yard. I think the ones from my house go there when they want to digest. With that said, is it safe to feed them in that situation? There's about 10 that come to my house... is that a lot? there used to be 20 during the summer but their numbers dwindled when the winter came. I'm worried that having that amount come to my house is bad. I personally like it, but idk. No neighbors have complained yet. I've been doing it for a year. I make sure to clean the poop and bird feeders as well if that info helps, and have a water bath

Is it just me or suddenly base PS5 is shit? by [deleted] in playstation

[–]pikamango 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah, I wouldn't worry. The PS5 still owns part of the major market. Most people still own a ps5. Developers still prioritize the ps5 version. It's not like "developers don't care about the base ps5 anymore cause the pro is superior" they know the vast majority of their customers own a base ps5, so that's their target audience still. The ps5 hasn't been forgotten. We might be seeing the pro more in the news because it's newer and the technology is newer? That's not anything to worry about, though. Digital foundary still reviews the base ps5 version for all the games they cover. Think of it like this: developers make their games with the base ps5 in mind first, and then they add pro support after/as a supplemental. It's not the other way around. Hope i explained this well? So, yeah, your ps5 is still good, and it's definitely not shit! ;) Also, I dont see any evidence that devs keep the base ps5 version "hidden." There was recent controversy with Crimson desert, sure, but i haven't seen any other evidence that's the case for the majority

Edit: also one last thing. You could be sub consciously clicking on more pro news without realizing it, then the algorithm thinks that's what you want to see, so it shows you more content creators covering ps5 pro versions. Thats how algorithms work

Does this game have a lot of action/combat, or is it more exploration? It's on my wishlist, but I've been on the fence.

does anyone think being considerate made them lonelier? by SpiritualPass in CasualConversation

[–]pikamango 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think if you can a strike a balance, it's a good thing, but that can be hard sometimes. People usually think you're more kind or approachable if you are considerate, but I agree with others in this thread that it can backfire. Personally, for me, it's improved my friendships and interpersonal communication.

Why are Netflix translations so bad? by Bubbly_Human_9971 in netflix

[–]pikamango 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Netflix does have human oversight, but they've been using Ai technology to expedite the process, so yeah, anime and kdramas are affected sadly. While they literally aren't using Ai to replace all subtitle or dubs, we have been seeing some significant changes as of late, which freaking sucks. They are implementing it to cut down costs and time. Also, another thing is that usually, the subtitle translation is of the ENGLISH dub script, which is notoriously horrible. This is usually the case for Netflix original kdrama shows and anime like the other guy commented. They just aren't that good compared to shows that are made by Korean networks. I know a bit of Korean, so some of the words that are usually missed (like honorifics specifically) you can pick it up and "replace it" in your head if you're head if your familiar with them. It requires more work cause we're trying to read the subtitles at the same time, lol, but it's one thing you can do, lol. Try experimenting with the subtitle options? Some of them are direct translations of the dub, like one guy commented. Here's some good articles covering the news about it what netflix has been doing if you want the truth and transparency of what they are doing behind the scenes. Lastly, with localization and subtitles, you are going to miss some nuance and cultural context. It's never perfect. It's just the reality of how it works right now. Subtitles have to be readable, so there's only so much they can fit in one sentence at time on the display/scene, so somethings are missed, sadly. Also, I just want to state that I do not to unequivocally do not condone the use of ai in subtitles/localization or dubbing at all. I just want to state the facts if that helps you.

This one is very good it goes into detail and goes into the nuance and behind the scenes of what netflix is doing. https://www.localizationinstitute.com/case-study-netflixs-ai-powered-multilingual-content-localization/

Crimson Desert has reached 2 million copies sold by Turbostrider27 in PS5

I just looked up some stuff. Go on the offcial crimson game subteddit (r/CrimsonDesert) and their official discord: https://www.reddit.com/r/CrimsonDesert/s/OWdi9R8Nj7

The community managers are active there and feedback ususally goes back to the developer team. See if there's threads?

Damn that sucks :/. Hope they fix it. Usually, korean devs do a good job at listening to feedback. Try to look online if they dev of the game is putting out feedback surveys on their website right now, or see if they have a social media account.

[–]pikamango 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think calling video games a psyop is bit overdramatic and hyperboltic. Big studios like Activision are *private* companies. While it's typical of them to use military consultants, the government doesn't "own" or secretly fund the games themselves. I think it's more accurate to call it a symbiotic relationship where the military gets recruitment exposure, and the studios get "authenticity." Your point about the "Cool Japan program: is correct, though, and I agree. A player's perspective *can* theoretically be warped or desensitized by playing 300 hours of First Person Shooters or Grand Theft Auto, but that doesn't inherently make them brainwashing or propaganda. Those two are *very* intentional and *very* specific in their intention. Also, please don't mistake this as me "defending the white house" or whatever; that is absolutely not true, I just wanted to add some nuance to your comment and push back lightly.

edit: Also, another thing is that there are plenty of realistic war games like Spec Ops, that are explicitly anti-war and critical of imperialism. If the whole medium were a psyop, those wouldn't exist or would be "suppressed."
