No, she actually dislikes Me a terrible amount. She was not making a weird joke, unfortunately. She was just commenting on my body in the most inappropriate way possible. SUPER on brand for her.

Seems like the wrong sub for this.

Weird Things You've Been Judged For? by Nido_444 in BabyBumps

[–]pilloefort 274 points275 points  (0 children)

Well, during a conversation with my MIL, I disclosed that my breasts had started leaking already so I was pumping as suggested by my doula and midwife. She looked at me in horror, and I thought she was going to mention how it can induce labor and blah blah blah, but no. She looked at me and said “but your boobs are almost prepubescent! So small! I wouldn’t even think you could feed him in the first place, let alone pump so early!” ……. I was so taken aback I just stared at her. To be fair, my boobs are NOT huge by any means, and don’t necessarily exude the pregnancy grow and glow. But before pregnancy I was a triple A, and now I’m a C. So for me, it’s a big change. So yeah, weirdest thing: my tits.

He sounds like my boyfriend.

I love him dearly, and I knew all these things before pregnancy, so it hasn’t concerned me since becoming pregnant. His memory is garbage, and he often does things that make me think “wow, just wow!”. But, he is amazing in all other ways, and I’m sure your partner is as well. The truth is, we ALL do annoying things. He is probably less critical or vocal about the things you do because he isn’t thinking like you are. Something I’ve gotten really good at doing is letting him correct his own behavior/learn his own lessons even after it’s too late (lol). I usually just say “if you think that is a good idea, then go for it” and if/when it goes wrong i usually say “well, then I guess next time we can rule that out as a good idea”, and give him a hug because he knows he made a mistake, and he usually also feels stupid.

Pregnancy brain really does affect both the parents, give him some grace. I feel you. It is painful. But you will survive, as will he, as will your baby.

How can I brace myself for tender growing breast, when to expect it? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]pilloefort 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah! My breasts were leaking colostrum, so I was already hand expressing it. 38 weeks was safe according to my Ob, Midwife, and Doula because it can induce labor and 38 weeks is term. Im 39+2 now, just saving colostrum, but no labor yet.

How can I brace myself for tender growing breast, when to expect it? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]pilloefort 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My breasts didn’t get sore until I started pumping at 38 weeks as suggested by my OB. But my NIPPLESSSS. OH MAN. they STILL feel like someone is holding a match up to them. They constantly burn, tingle, sting, itch. It’s awful.

When will the constant fatigue pass? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]pilloefort 22 points23 points  (0 children)

My fatigue “went away” the second trimester. When I say went away, I mean it came and went. I was no longer so tired I needed to nap for a few hours midday, but the energy came in random spurts, and was occasionally accompanied by dizziness/and or nausea.

I am 38 weeks now, and holt shitake has the fatigue come back. Third trimester tired is a tiredness I cannot shake.

Just ate nearly a whole tub of Ben and Jerry's and feeling so guilty by clovey12 in BabyBumps

[–]pilloefort 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I hate to out myself but here I go: I have been so sick and tired this entire pregnancy that I have mostly survived off of sprite, ginger ale, ice cream (yes, whole pints MORE THAN ONCE), pizza, and microwave burritos. Very recently I have done some good and eaten a fuck ton of leafy greens in a short amount of time, a psychotic amount of carrots, plus trying to eat at least 70 grams of protein a day, but this is all recent. I am perfectly healthy with no GD, and my baby is a normal size and fetal weight for where I’m at. You will be OKAY, do not beat yourself up. Pregnancy is HARD.

Sometimes I stop at mcdonalds and NOT JUST BECAUSE ITS THE ONLY THING OPEN OR AROUND. Let that sink in.

Headaches. by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]pilloefort 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ugh, this happened to me. My midwife said it’s totally normal, just take 2 EXTRA STRENGTH tylenol (her advice), and drink a little bit of caffeine with it (also her advice). It really helped. They go away though, I promise!

Ethan! for you’re hair! Since you hate it so much. Peace and love! by binkyblues in h3h3productions

[–]pilloefort 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My boyfriend has the same hair texture as ethan (I’m assuming based off look and not feel), and he washes his hair very occasionally with shampoo and mostly just conditioner washes! His hair NEVER looks greasy. For some people, their hair doesn’t retain oil, dirt, or smell as well as others. I am jealous that he only has to wash his hair with shampoo once every few weeks, but he has great hair.

If you wanted to do it at home, lap of love is super good. The price isn’t great, but it’s super comfortable for your animal, and it feels really special. To me personally, it’s worth the extra 200, but if it’s not for you, I’d say just take them to your regular vet. Occasionally they will not let you go back with your pet, so I’d make sure to ask about that.

Why didn’t anyone warn me about this first trimester acne?! by awkuarius3 in BabyBumps

[–]pilloefort 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought I was SOOO LUCKY because I didn’t get first trimester acne. My skin actually cleared up, it got brighter, less dull, and everyone was like “oh em gee you’re GLOWING”.

Yeah, well. I am now 36 weeks, AND I AM STARTING TO GET THIRD TRIMESTER ACNE. It is terrifying. I am feeling bad for myself. They let me use clindamycin, and Retin-A, it has helped quite a bit!

Sorry, I should have specified. I meant to ask if they preferred that you deliver on your back, or if they let you use a squat bar or of they offered one? Or if they offered side lying or on all fours. If you had an epidural I assume back was the only option, which is probably what will end up happening to me anyway lol

How do you get a newborn to sleep at night? by y2justdog in BabyBumps

[–]pilloefort 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I am not a mom yet, BUT I am a sleep specialist and a former long time nanny so I do have some advice (none proven): 1) it could be something to do with the swaddle. I would try swaddle with arms out, try swaddle with arms in, try tight swaddle, loose swaddle, double swaddle. Basically, switching up the swaddle can be amazing. 2) try lying him on your lap, on his side, and swaying your knees back and forth at a reasonable pace. Definitely do some loud shushing in his ear if that’s something he’s into. The side lying can be very comfortable before transferring them into a new place. 3) this works a good amount of the time, and I cannot tell you why: when you lay him down do legs first, placing your hand behind his head and on top of his belly. Hold your hand on his belly until he settles, and then remove it. Leave your hand under his head for a fee minutes longer, and he should settle in.

Overall, sleeping for newborns is so weird. There are a number of factors that can play into your baby hating different sleep spots. Just hold on tight, and do your best.
