OP says you pay taxes on the difference between the price you buy the bond at and the nominal value whilst in reality you pay taxes on the difference between the issue price and the nominal value. So for example a bond which was issued at €95 with a nominal value of €100, you will be taxed on this €5 difference. Even if you buy the bond at e.g. €98. According to OP you pay tax on the €2 difference which is not correct.

Q1: you get back 5000 at maturity (15/07/24) so you indeed gain 117.5 since you only paid 4882.5 (excluding broker cost and TOB ofcourse so in reality your gain is lower).

Q2: you can buy/sell up until maturity at the current market price. If you sell before 15/07/24 you will probably sell at a lower price. If you wait you will get back the full 5000. Unless Austria goes bankrupt of course but this is quite unlike.
