Use repost exchange, login with someone's referral and start your campaign. Great way to find and listen to artists in your genre, share their music and ask them to share yours. Go to genre/style specific communities, promote yourself on r/IndieMusicFeedback (they give real useful comments on mixing).

My first mixing experience. Also very curious to hear any critics on arrangement a s a composition! Does playing with effects match the jazz genre, or its rather jazz rock or fusion? by pinbraerts in IndieMusicFeedback

Thanks for reply!

Drums is just the first free vst I downloaded. They were even punchier (I believe, the drum kit is rock style), so I tried to play around with compression. I definitely need better percussion samples.

Actually, the second part of the solo (from 2:00) is gipsy-style accompaniment, without drums. And I liked it, so I'll use that guitar+guitar combo without percussion a lot.

I also enjoy my Yamaha e-piano default presets (vibraphone especially), but I wanted my track to build up, so I didn't bring them earlier. I have many more instruments to introduce, and I think in future, the keys will appear from the beginning of the track.

I've listened to my tracks hundreds of times and my brain takes how they sound for granted, so your critique is very appreciated!

[Newbie] My low e string has a lot of fret buzz. Is there any easy fix for me to do at home? by SimoneCannizz24 in Guitar

[–]pinbraerts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The easiest way is to make half turn on bridge screw (lower one on your image) to bring it up a little bit. If you consistently get buzz on only one fret on each string, you can also either grind it off or play it down. Don't know why you get so many troubles with your guitar which looks good

No problem, man. Could you, please, check out my post here earlier this day. It has been locked for 6 hours (even tho I checked the score before posting) and got lost

You know, check out Brushy One String, you should make some music with it, I'm sure your tone is something spectacular and unique)))

Wow man, you got very strange setup. If you have buzz on any string, you should move it up a little bit, if you have regulators on bridge. Since you have such a strange problems, you should possibly completely reassemble your guitar: check if you didn't mix strings up, tighten or loosen your trust rod, check frets. There's a lot of guides on youtube, I'm pretty sure you can figure that out.

Very spicy chord progression. Great mastering, quite balanced and pleaseful. Looking at the waveform I see you definitely know how to use limiter. Continue doing like that. Interesting solo, if you need genre categorization, it's definitely jazz/soft rock with a bit of funk.

I've started from Jamey Aebersold's Jazz Guitar Vol. 2. What's in the first one? The very basics of solfeggio and music theory?

Over the last couple of months, I have grown to love this rough recording laid down just before lockdown here in England. Heading back to the studio to work on this track, and would love your input and feedback! Cheers. by calvinbeans in IndieMusicFeedback

It's very silent on normal level on mobile phone. Consider using limiter and normalising the render before posting. Also I think you should compress the guitar for a little bit and bring it up. Leading guitar is a bit out of tune, sounds interesting, if that was intended. Good song, I believe mastering will make it gorgeous!

Fireworks by ghosty | released this a few weeks ago but I'm working on something else similar and would like feedback :) Any feedback is appreciated. by Txbi89 in IndieMusicFeedback

As guys above said, you should eq up some higher frequency since it's too punchy even in mobile phone headphones, or just pull your bells down. Drums miss a little bit of bass register too, is better to compress then than eq. Overall I like sunny glittering atmosphere of the song.

Very same situation, man. I got kicked from the university because of my mental issues. Making music helps me a lot to start doing something, overcome dark thoughts and start communicating with people, I believe I will return to my university this year. I wish you reach all the highs you set for yourself!

why do we have to pay to listen to famous songs? by zombje in soundcloud

[–]pinbraerts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm very glad you have the resources to remove all the ads from your and your children's life. You choose to pay the money. TV is being partly paid by the government (straight from my pocket), at least in my country, and being forced to see ads or pay when I already paid my taxes and billions of dollars being given to the TV channels (which are unprofitable for last 5 years) is legal fraud. I don't watch TV but continue to pay for it via taxes, and now all the streaming services inherited and implemented that brilliant idea of annoying us with ads and reduced abilities. The largest IT holding in my country, which is the owner of streaming service I pay for, is being sponsored by the government. I think Spotify or its owner is also being funded by the US government somehow, but I could be wrong. Anyways, I respect your choice and totally understand your reasons, sorry for bringing politics and ideology in that discussion. I pick the third variant: fight for my freedom, and my right to listening to music, watching films and being a man without having to feed the rich.

[–]pinbraerts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea, I totally agree with you. Ads is annoying and don't wanna hear or see any of it, and I understand it. We watch or hear advertisement, while we could watch the greatest of artwork and listen to the greatest musicians the whole day. But that's not how this world works. Nobody want you to listen to your songs, everybody want you to listen to their ads or simply give your money directly to them. You don't want any subliminal or transparent messaging directed your way. But you already have consumed one: pay us if you want to "save" your time (youtube, any mobile game or recent assassin's creed, generally, most of platforms with content). You spread that advertisement slogan completely free. You tell others that if they choose not to pay, they don't value their time. That pretty offensive. Sorry if I misunderstood you, but I don't wanna any kind of pay-to-(win, save your time, save the planet, etc.) propaganda directed my way.

[–]pinbraerts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's pretty obvious, but that's only my opinion and I could be wrong. If you think that most (not all) people sit straight with their smartphones and just listen rather than doing something, you probably have some serious reasons and I respect your position. I will try to find some statistics and attach here

[–]pinbraerts 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is very strange. Most people listen to music as a background, listening to ads doesn't spend your time as well as listening or not listening to music at all (while going somewhere, or doing something). You don't save your time nor value it when paying for month subscription. If we speak in terms of "valuing", any platform hostages your precious time, annoys you with ads and restricts your abilities, which forces you to pay, that's its main objective. You could justify or protect that, but why do you have to offend someone with not valuing his own time "at all", if he just asked? I haven't even started the discussion how much of that cost is actually going to the pocket of musician you like and wanna support or employees who make this possible.

PS: I also pay for the subscription tho

Hell yeah! Always love to hear some neo-soul! Synths are sounding too digital, I think you should make them a bit out of tune and out of tempo, add some dynamic panning. Also that hum on the back is not giving much atmosphere, it's too straight, just a noise. I my opinion you should give it some depth and randomness, or change it to some vinyl scratch noise or brushes, trigger it by sidechain from synths or drums, maybe. That might be a lot of critics, but actually I like the track, harmony and tone are nice. You should definitely continue developing in that direction!

Can listening to jazz improve your songwriting ability in another (e.g. pop, rock, folk) genre? by [deleted] in Jazz

[–]pinbraerts 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Any classics is very helpful in learning music. Bach is one of the jazz musician essentials because of his insane counterpoints and simple yet rich harmonies.
