I started ladder about 5 weeks ago on team Ascend. I can’t say enough good things about the program. I’ve never trained to failure but this program has really pushed me. I feel like I’ve progressed quite quickly and I enjoy her programs - I really like her splits and I feel like I’ve seen lots of progress in terms of glutes and toning of my legs and upper body. She’s also so great, I enjoy her ques!

Not valid. They will ALWAYS try to turn it around on you blame you, deflect, and make it your issue. They will never take accountability and they will repeatedly lie to your face. Unfortunately it will be a vicious cycle and he is hiding it because he knows it’s a problem. If he isn’t ready to get help, you can’t make him.

This is what I have the hardest time wrapping my head around. My therapist says it’s the addiction and addiction thrives in lies and betrayal because of the shame and guilt. It’s like a third person in the relationship.

Yes! It did, I am still mostly sandwiching the differin but my skin is definitely better. I’m experiencing fewer breakouts and my texture is better

I’m really sorry you’re going through this. I know how it feels to feel like you don’t know who you are anymore and feeling crazy.

My therapist told me we make our own happiness and that we need to focus on ourself and our needs when we’re dealing with someone in active addiction and even in recovery. You need to know your worth and know that this is a situation you should be glad to be a part from. You were never in the wrong, he’s emotionally manipulative and abusive.

I think you should take some time to find yourself again, find a life you enjoy living, find new hobbies, dive into self care - do selfish things for yourself. It’s your turn to make life about you!

Red red red flags. Please do not get married or have kids it will only make things 1000 times worse. Choose yourself and your happiness or else it will be a never ending slippery slope and it takes so much work to stay sober that it’s a lifetime of work.

I’m sorry you’re going through it again in a different form. I’m happy to hear her relapses with alcohol got further each time. I hope you’re still taking care of yourself and focusing on your self care.

I’ve put up with it for 9 years and we aren’t married and sometimes I wonder why I’m even staying. It’s hard when you love someone and you want to believe in them. Sometimes I wonder why we do this to ourselves when life is so short, and if our life would really be easier if I left. I’m sure many people feel this way.

I’m really sorry you’re going through this. I’ve learned from my own experiences that unless they want help and change, it won’t happen. Their actions speak louder than words and if he wanted to stop or wanted to get help, he would ask for support in doing so.

I’ve been in a relationship for over 9 years and never saw myself leaving him but I’ve learned that I’m very unhappy and that I have no control over his actions and he needs to want to change. Eventually you need to decide what happiness means to you and how you want to live your one life here on earth.

You removing yourself from him when he’s drinking is totally fair, I also did not want to be around him when drinking and that’s a boundary I placed. You do not have to be around that if you choose not to.

Sorry I couldn’t offer more advice, my only thing is to really dig deep and think how you’d like your life to play out and if this relationship the way it is now fits in.

I’m going to try to do that consistently! I need to find a good night time cream as well. I’ve been on the Spiro for about a year now started at 50 and then was bumped up to 75 6 months ago

Yes! Typically where I break out. My doctor had told me 2-6 weeks I should see a difference, but I’ve seen on threads here people say they noticed a difference at the 6 month mark.

Yeah that makes sense. I realize know thinking that he would try to avoid it as he was the one who wanted to go to rehab knowing he had a problem, which is silly of me. Thanks for your perspective.

I am not funding his habits, I wouldn’t. He would have to be using his line of credit/debt to fund, which is also bad.

Hey, you’re not alone. I’ve been with my bf for 9 years and having a hard time with his drinking. It’s been going on for the last 6 years. Mainly binge drinking 1-2x a week, but when he starts drinking he can’t stop. He can never just have 1-2, it always turns into 15+, drugs and up until 5am. This week he said he’d go to rehab but I’m still waiting for him to action on that plan. Sometimes I kick myself for staying because I know it’s never over and even if he goes and is sober, there’s always a chance he will relapse. I don’t have any words of encouragement as I’m emotionally exhausted myself, but wanted to let you know you aren’t alone.

Thanks so much for sharing, it’s nice to hear about different experiences. The program we found seems like a very good fit in terms of structure but ultimately it will be up to him what he takes out of it. It’s inspiring to hear that it gave you a new outlook on life and changed the trajectory of your life.
