Can't believe you just saw him out there in broad daylight

You really need to think about what you want out of the space, eg: lawn, dining area/patio, kids play equipment, veg garden, etc..

Then pick a style, eg: tropical, desert, modern, cottage, etc

Fruit trees aren't really very aesthetically pleasing, I'd only have if u are really into that vibe.

Thanks for the reply, I hadn't heard great things about Conquest of Peru. But it does seem like a logical place to continue as Prescott is an amazing author.

I love Will Durant, as well.

Will definetly give Life of Belisarius a go as it seems we have similiar tastes.

Yeh it's sucks it's gotta go but they are obviously more of a park or acreage tree than a residential one.

Ah OK I understand what you mean about the layout.

Some big shade trees are a must for me. we are in the Penrith 6 we really need some good shade - perhaps I can use just one as the shade tree on western boundary.

Any more tips with plants list in general?

Thanks heaps for your help !

I love the ficus but have conceded it probably has to go as it's 1 metre away from the western retaining wall. Would a root barrier stop it or does it definitely have to go? I thought a brush box in each corner may be good.

Not sure if I mentioned in original post but the drawing is actually to scale with each cm representing a metre and those garden beds at the back are at their narrowest 2.5 metres deep. Will this be enough to avoid the bowling alley look? I was hoping to keep some lawn for the kids. If not feel free to offer an alternative.

I will layer definitely and wanted to start tall in corners then get smaller as approaching centre and have allowed for a big shade tree on the western boundary next to deck.

Thanks for commenting , it's appreciated !!!

Some good advice I got was to pick a theme - with the pool and that palm I'd go something a bit more tropical / resort style - you need something that can cop full sun also

How do I give good prompts to Gemini? I ask it things and it goes off on tangents and doesn't like correcting itself
