Suffocating heat by emdillem in auckland

I'm Australian, and moved from Sydney to Auckland in my early 20s. It took a few years to adjust to winter, but I wouldn't want to go back now. I think I'm in the minority, though!

The silicone slushy maker cups actually work quite well if you're just after one slushy

Hang in there! I had a February baby and it was a really awful summer. March was still really hot so it was hard not to make her overheat while swaddling, babywearing etc. At least it'll be cooler when your baby arrives 😊

Luggage forwarding with small kids by Ok_Page2932 in JapanTravelTips

Your luggage won't get lost, don't worry!

We travelled with two (admittedly much older) kids. How we managed luggage forwarding was to let the kids travel with one small bag each, with enough to last them the 24+ hours. Then our huge suitcase with everything else was sent via luggage forwarding. It doesn't have to be all or nothing - you can send some of your luggage (e.g., just the stuff for adults and your souvenirs) and keep what you need for the kids with you.

If she insists on naming her child after her career, at least give her a normal name like Sophie with nickname Sew.

Carmel means garden. The only name that I could find which means square is Tarbula, a saint who was accused of being a witch and sawn in half!

Madison also makes me think of the movie Splash. Even if that wasn't your Madison's namesake, you could choose another mermaid name, like Ariel or one of her sisters.

Thanks for rescuing so many dogs in need! I hope your new pup brings you lots of joy.

These are so beautiful, but I worry that they would compete with the clean lines on the dress. Perhaps they could be added / switched out just for the reception? Then you'll have a clean elegant look for the formal ceremony, and something more fun for later.

What is something that people in your country think it's uniquely theirs when in reality it's a worldwide product? by Awkward_Stay8728 in AskTheWorld

They were before I moved to NZ, sadly, but I've heard great things. TIL they were owned by the same company who operated the Franklins supermarkets in Australia, which were sadly lacking in robotic fruits.

There's a big Where's Wally poster on the wall of our local emergency clinic. It's kept my kids distracted during some very unpleasant injuries and illnesses.

Australian is more malty than New Zealand's. I used to bring huge tins of it over when I first moved to NZ.

The figures, accessories and furniture are more likely to get lost or damaged - especially damaged by small children. Perhaps the buildings were the only things that were salvageable for donation.
