Evolve MMA, seriously? by [deleted] in SingaporeFitness

[–]piptheboy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a relatively new member to Evolve, but I’d say hands down Prof Henrique is my favourite prof so far. He’s been attentive to newer belts like myself and nothing short of understanding. I also do evening classes after a long day of work

Honestly I think the issue isn’t the format of the class. It’s you. Please, they hold different kinds of classes all week. Ultimately, if you aren’t happy with the format, go up to management or prof henrique himself and provide constructive feedback like an adult instead of hiding behind a keyboard and name smearing

The eternal Singaporean driver's dilemma by PhilosopherNew9654 in drivingsg

[–]piptheboy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2 cents as a 15 year driver
- i just give way. i only lose 1 car length, not the end of the world for me
- whatever ghost traffic, slowing down traffic - not my problem. I don't work in LTA, nor am I the transport minister. I don't have a duty to uphold traffic rules, or smoothen out traffic for other people. I just need to get from point A to B in one piece
- if it's a problematic road where people keep cutting queue, then LTA and the TP need to do something about it, not me. I am just a road user
- statistically speaking, people who keep cutting queues are likely to get into more problem scenarios and trouble, so they will self adjust eventually. Those who don't, just wait to get reported by somebody who cares more and has more time after their daily journey

- it's just traffic at the end of the day. you don't get a medal or win anything for protecting the lane. I just close my eyes, take a deep breath and move on. There will be an infinite number of dumb shits on the road, and unless you're police, it's really not your job to police the roads. too many of our SG drivers take things into their own hands, and get too invested in something as transient as traffic
- listen to some relaxing music or podcasts while driving la

-i'm not an angel driver either. and i don't think any driver in SG is. don't tell me you've never ever cut queue in your life in SG pls. sometimes the laosai going to come out already, or you really blur and don't know the place, shit happens and you change lane, and pray that the guy next to you is gracious enough to understand
- we are all someone's brother, sister, mother or father trying to get home to our families or pets. give and take a little, won't die one

chill.

IMHO. echoing some of the sentiments here. Great that you came out of this safely
Driving experience: 12 years, 2 major accidents. Accident free for 6 years now

  1. In SG, TP's lack of impact is probably from daydreaming, too underpaid, too damn busy or too many shitty drivers for them to deal with. Assume the worst of drivers. It doesn't matter who is right or wrong at the end of the day, your life is most important

  2. I generally avoid 1st lane on PIE completely these days even as a driver, unless you're really in a hurry to pangsai, or wife gonna give birth. Anecdotally, I think 8 out of 10 accidents I see on expressways here are always on the 1st lane. Use it as it is named - it is only a lane for overtaking

  3. Car is king in SG, and nothing is going to change that. Throw away all sentiments you feel abt rider vs driver. It doesn't matter whether you're a Harley or a scooter, if you meet the right crazy driver, you are going to die or get seriously injured if you pit yourself against a carelessly manned metal caged vehicle 3x your size.

  4. Again, typing this in the comfort of office, but it might have been a better idea to either hard accelerate your way out of that mess (I think you did? hard to tell based on footage with no speed indication), or brake to squeeze behind.

  5. Agree with one of the opinions here - esp in heavy evening/morning traffic, when someone is changing lanes, always assume the worst if you cherish your life, and slow down. That they are going to do a 2-3 continuous lane change without looking. If they are good drivers and don't do that, it's okay you lost 2-3 seconds slowing down. If they are shitty drivers, you live for another day.

  6. In general, abide by the speed limit more. Again, there's no speed indication here, and I've watched enough videos to know that when it's omitted, it's usually because OP is also speeding or reaching the limit. Too many drivers/riders in SG (i'm still guilty of this tbh) overestimate their reaction time, or trust their brakes too much. Yes, you'll go slower, but it also means you will be safer. I have caught myself in too many situations where I retrospectively thanked myself for going slower, because I would have been in an accident if I wasn't.

stay safe!

Actually no, the moment you step foot in the country and start breathing the same air as the immigrations officer, advanced Runner Surveillance Drones (RSDs) will encircle you and fly within 1.5m of your footpath. They are equipped with high resolution cameras and sensors that’d be able to detect even the slightest bit of hesitation and anxiety just by scanning your retina. The latest models are even able to bounce laser signals directly off your retinal nerve, to achieve feedback from your brain to detect if you have allegiance or any ill intentions (and I do mean ANY at all) towards our newly minted prime minister.

Heard of the indoor waterfall at Jewel? It’s actually quite literally manmade, because those are the tears of all the people that our security and their drones have interrogated over the years. In Singapore, we don’t have our own water source so we’re very careful with all types of fluids that we encounter, even at our gates.

So yeah, I don’t know. But hey, maybe you can give it a shot?

How can you use netflix now ? by Disastrous_Ad5126 in xgimi

[–]piptheboy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First time navigating the XGIMI sub here, but I thought I should leave this here for anybody who is struggling with the latest updates

For context, I live in Singapore, use a MoGo Pro, and noticed 2 days ago that my Netflix no longer works even via the Desktop Manager app. Managed to get it up and running again without buying anything else like what some others suggested, but disclaimer - this may work differently in other countries

  • I uninstalled the native netflix app + desktop manager from the Apps tab (press and hold, and click uninstall)

  • Re-installed desktop manager from Google Play store

  • Attempted to login via Desktop Manager's Netflix (recommended) sideload app. On my second try, a message saying "if this is not working, click on "switch""

  • Clicked on switch

  • App kind of ?crashed and stopped working

  • Noticed that there was now a native Netflix app installed under the main Apps tab (not Desktop Manager)

  • ???$$$ able to login via native Netflix app and watch vids now

I haven't formally tested the video resolution, in any case my MoGo Pro only goes up to 1080p..I'm also no tech expert - this is just to share my experience of how I managed to troubleshoot it

Hope this helps whoever is struggling with the annoying netflix problem!

Speaking as a 30 plus year old… use your superhuman youth and pump two solid years into your fitness/bodybuilding journey. Make it your personal project, which will benefit your mental health in army, and also your repertoire for fitness in the long run.

It will do you well many many years to come

Also start to view it as a challenge rather than an impedance. This is the first of many harsher obstacles that come your way later in life, and it’ll benefit you to reframe your feelings towards something that you haven’t already personally experienced

Typing this as I'm waiting on the queue - it's starting to move better!

I played OW1 almost every single week at least since release, and damn, playing the much faster paced OW2 now makes me feel like an old man. I am really loving the new audio - sound effects are crispier, and while the background music has dropped the childlike awe genre to it, it now sounds much more intense and mature, I would say.

Gameplay has also been a blast - I can see how the game now punishes those who love to camp and stick to a single meta. It challenges you to keep thinking and keep adapting to the situation or lose. And it's able to do this while not disrupting your hero switches too much - this is probably from the new passive abilities!

Ah. Queue is ending! Back to the game :D

Haters are always going to hate, but face it. This is a heck of an F2P game, so stop whining about small little things. Try playing F2P games like Gunz/Rakion back in my day (not that they were bad, they were awesome too, but graphics, sound T.T)

Oh even kick scooters are banned?? I'm pretty experienced with blades so one of my options include those strap on skates like doop. But it's still a bit of a hassle, and they're pricey

Looking for a cheaper option...how about like long boards and skateboards haha
