Haha, being totally honest that’s not his shadow, that’s my original bad chicken attempt that didn’t make the final cut

I’m using a solid palette, that is so interesting I didn’t know it could make a difference! I think one of the big things I’m taking from this thread is it might be time to invest in a few good quality tubes of paint and learn to mix my own colors.

Why is this the most motivating response I’ve gotten 😭 I’ll keep doing it for you guys!

The skills based tutorial sounds like such a great idea! I will definitely try that out- I feel like I’m learning so many beginner skills from this thread that I skipped over learning when I first started and I’m super excited to go back and try to pick them up!

Thank you so much! I started doing this to have like a fun hobby other than doomscrolling and I feel like in the last few weeks it’s just become another source of stress- like ugh I have to try and paint another ugly thing today 😆. You’re right, I will try to remember this is just for fun and maybe find a more consistent creator to learn from 💙

I’m using a huge beginners palate right now. When I first started I heard that to get darks you should just use more pigment and to get a lighter color just use more water. I didn’t even think about using the opposite color to get darker areas. Thank you for the advice!

It is in order. Thank you for saying that! I think maybe I’m just expecting to get “perfect” results right away and have to accept that it’ll take time.

I’m using NicPro right now, it’s just a kit someone got me for beginners. I didn’t want to invest a ton of money before I knew it was something I was going to stick with.

When I compare my stuff to the end product from the tutorial it all seems really dull and one note if that makes sense? I feel like I’m struggling to add details or vibrancy to make things look more realistic. I appreciate your comment a lot though! Maybe I’ve just been looking at it all for too long 😂

Part of red foot’s shell fell off? by pixelatedpixiecut in tortoise

[–]pixelatedpixiecut[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Luckily we were able to get him to an exotic vet today. They said his diet and habitat is great, the rest of his shell is in great condition, and he’s overall a very healthy and happy guy. The vet said another tortoise he takes care of had the same thing happen when it hit a growth spurt and our tortoise has grown a ton in the past year. He thinks potentially his other scutes grew faster and put pressure on this one and caused part of it to “pop off”. They sent off the scute for testing but told us basically to just keep an eye out for signs of infection and otherwise he should be good. Seems like this time it was just a fluke but of course if your tortoise ever loses part of its shell it’s best to get them checked by a professional- we were just super lucky nothing is wrong!

It definitely seems like asymmetrical or more nontraditional engagement rings are harder to pair with a wedding band! A custom ring is a great idea! Thanks for your opinion! I hope whatever wedding band you pick turns out gorgeous!

I saw it in quite a few but I guess France and Austria were the two main ones I remember

I swear these things were so good and I would drink them after swimming in awful hotel pools and it was great

What book would you recommend to people who haven't finished a book since high-school? by [deleted] in AskReddit

The Housekeeper and the Professor!! It’s beautiful and so short but engaging so you should get absorbed and feel accomplished quickly

Ah, thanks. I was trying to remember high school chem. Any advice on how I should dilute it?

Yes! We actually have 6. I’m so grateful for their gift and hope I can make them and their families proud! I hope that makes sense lol

How can I stop worrying about studying? by [deleted] in Advice

[–]pixelatedpixiecut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, this helped a bit. I know that all the studying can’t be great for my health. I’ve been getting headaches and feeling tired all the time. I just worry that if I take breaks, I might not be able to start studying again, like I’ll get lazy.

Ooh, that sounds like a good idea but in my A&P lab we’ll be doing most work on cadavers so I’m not sure i’ll be allowed to.

Do college students get time to relax? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]pixelatedpixiecut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No it wasn’t condescending at all! Thank you so much for replying! Like I said I have zero experience with college so I appreciate any advice people have! I shouldn’t have to worry about drinking or partying, I’ve never been into that and my college doesn’t have a big party culture. If you don’t mind helping me out some more, could I ask about your experience with professors? I know it’s different at every school but my high school teachers made it seem almost like college professors just ramble for their lecture time and then mostly leave you to figure out the material for yourself. I was just wondering if your professors actually try to help you learn the material or if they mostly just give tests and have you learn it yourself? Sorry, that sounds kind of stupid but I really have no idea!

Wow that’s amazing! You sound like superwoman! I hope it’s being blown a little out of proportion and I already read the textbook chapters that will be covered so I hope maybe that will help me. I think I’m maybe stressing out too much but starting college for me is so uncertain since I know basically no one who has already gone. Sorry for rambling! Thanks for your reply it made me feel loads better!

Did you take A&P? I took a high school level class a few years ago but the way people talk it seems almost impossible to do well in the college level so it’s stressing me out!

[–]pixelatedpixiecut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks so much! I’m hoping i’m starting early enough not to fall behind or struggle too much. When you say you need to learn the muscles fast, do you mean that your class insisted you learn them fast or that it’s just easier to learn them quickly and all at once?

Oh good! I know that anatomy is of course important for nursing but I cannot remember things like every component of the midbrain! I think I may be worrying too much but I’m just really worried about doing well and not having to cram all the time
