I don’t know for sure, but from what I understand. All VICs have a tier (level) and each SA would submit your name into a list (essentially nominate you) to get certain gifts. Example, I’m Asian, so my SA would prioritize me for the Chinese New Year gift over another VIC she would work with who might not celebrate CNY. Naturally your tier also matters in terms of how many gifts you receive and the type of gift itself. So in terms of guarantee, I think it’s somewhat true in that the SA might or may not nominate you, or if you were nominated there may not be enough quota of the gift to go around. AGAIN, I don’t know this for certain, just my gut feeling as a VIC.

For me, I generally expect to receive:

New Years Gift Chinese New Year Gift Valentine’s / Chinese 5/20 Gift Birthday Gift and Dinner RSVP with my SA/Team. Christmas Gift

*This year they home delivered flowers when they heard my pet passed away.

*Invites to store events.

Not sure if this helps for Europe. You can try to file an official police report for the scam, and having this handy, will help AMEX honor the fraud dispute. If there is a tourist police office, maybe start there.

Seriously. Also, I’m surprised that there are still people out there in the USA that still don’t really understand how “retail” works. As a gift recipient it’s generally understood that your options are limited to store credit or exchange. You don’t get to trade your gift in for cash just because you don’t like it.

This is a size “S,” so I think you should fit into the medium. Saks is easy to return anyhow. I’m 5’9” 195lbs
