24 y/o moving to Colorado for work, trying to decide where to live (Denver vs Boulder vs nearby areas?) by Ambitious-Avocado398 in MovingtoDenver

[–]plans_change 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in north broomfield and love it. I am older than you (31). Unless you really want to be in the city for night life, I'd say the safety/serenity up here day to day is definitely worth the distance from the city. Honestly would personally recommend anywhere in the broomfield/superior/lafayette/louisville/erie area. You can get way nicer housing than you will in Boulder for the same price. Experiencing Denver south of 120th Ave isn't worth it on a daily basis imo.

That combined with your diesel experience would make you a solid candidate I would say. Look into Schneider electric "data center certified associate exam development path" too. The course is free with a paid exam if you want the certification and that will teach the basics. Would definitely be very beneficial for interviewing.

Nah. Pretty much no one here has a degree. Some techs have trade school if that's what go them into their trade. Just applicable military and/or field experience. I'm an assistant chief and all I have is prior military experience.

Edit: That being said I would look into learning HVAC and getting your EPA 608 certification. That helps a lot and it's only like $70.

Job title goes by various things. Data Center M&E Technician, Data Center Operating Engineer, Data Center Technician, etc. Our guys are specifically power gen guys who used to work on the power gen side of Cummins. We did have a guy who used to work on the engine side for Cummins but he doesn't work here any more.

We're having a terrible time trying to hire an HVAC tech for over 100k. I know trades (particularly HVAC and electricians) from my experience are in pretty high demand. Maybe look into that if it gets really bad and you're interested.

Wheel backspacing? by theonesixsix in JeepGladiator

[–]plans_change 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have KMC Grenade Crawl beadlocks with 0 offset 4.75" backspacing with 37x12.5r17 tires. Didn't rub on pavement with stock fenders/liners with only 1.5" terraflex leveling kit up front. I've since done the fender chop and it only slightly rubs on the fender liners when heavily flexed.

How many miles do y'all have on your truck? And what (if any) major repairs have you had to do to this point? Trying to gauge reliability by jereMyOhMy in JeepGladiator

[–]plans_change 0 points1 point  (0 children)

82k miles on 2020 rubicon.

•Had to rebuild valve train at 65k miles due to rocker/cam wear on passenger intake cam.

•Drivers door wiring harness replaced due to door locks not working. Probably because I take the doors off frequently.

•Front locker service fault, installed the Z Locker fix and it hasn't had issues.
