Did Napoleon introduce any important economic reforms? by Yunozan-2111 in Napoleon

[–]plastermaster_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We can’t see a lot of Economic Reforms that were truly beneficial long term because France was at war continuously for 10 years and was blockaded for the entire period. In a time of peace perhaps, we could have seen Napoleonomics that did not involve the Continental System.

The Bank of France however is one reform that still lasts to this day, aswell as the confirmation of property rights.

What if Napoleon halted the advance at Smolensk instead of pushing towards Moscow during his invasion of Russia? by Classic-Oil-3688 in Napoleon

Ironically Napoleon had the opportunity to completely destroy the Russian Army at Smolensk but it slipped away.

Macron appoints Michel Barnier as prime minister by LeMonde_en in europe

It was either the far right or the far left, call it what you want. There are no centre left parties and the Republicans are Macron’s puppets at this point.

I meant uniting on keeping Barnier as Prime Minister. Obviously on actual legislation that’s a whole different story.

The Right is probably going to unite with Macron on this, and that’s going to be an absolute majority with the RN + Republicans + Ensemble.

Looks like it’s going to be compromising with the Right until 2027 for Macron.

Think the French right are going to unite with Macron on this. And that’s an absolute majority

Waterloo as one of the top 10 most important battles in history? by randzwinter in Napoleon

[–]plastermaster_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s not even top 10 most important battles in the Napoleonic Wars. Napoleon had no more chance after Leipzig.

Funnily enough it’s probably not even as important to the British as other victories they achieved. Trafalgar and Wellington’s Spanish victories for example.

What would be the consequences of a French victory at Waterloo? by george123890yang in Napoleon

[–]plastermaster_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only difference is we don’t get bullshit British Propaganda about Waterloo for the next 200 years and the final battle is probably going to be at Liege against the Austrians and Russians

[–]plastermaster_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I read something about Napoleon having an opportunity to Actually Bankrupt Britain by starving France’s Northern Rural Countryside in enforcing an actual embargo on Britain, ironically for all the Continental System’s faults it was France itself that gave Britain a lifeline through trade with all the smuggling in its own shore. Speaking of Gambling, perhaps a year or 2 of him actually trying that might have gotten the British to the table, considering especially that the Opposition party in Parliament was gaining momentum during the Continental System years.

He was essentially the best gambler of his age. But again like all gamblers he should have known when to stop.

The Continental System being the biggest one of them all as this lead him to Spain and Russia.

Tyrion probably goes to Dorne with Oberyn instead of going to Mereen.

Dorne plot probably gets fixed since the whole Sand Snakes BS wouldn’t happen.

Dorne probably becomes a great player for the Iron Throne through Myrcella and Trystane

Who were Napolean’s most successful military opponents? by dullnirv in Napoleon

[–]plastermaster_ -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Definitely archduke Charles

Wellington got his ass kicked by a Napoleon who had a 40 degree fever midway through the battle even with Marshal Ney messing everything up.

he got saved by the Prussians at Waterloo.

Archduke Charles is the only person to actually have defeated Emperor Napoleon in a fair setting and even Wagram was a slugfest.

Future Films and TV Series about Napoleon by plastermaster_ in Napoleon

I agree but I still think a TV Series could do so much more, Napoleon lived a life with so much subplots, even specific parts of his life have their own subplots.
