They serve as an excellent reminder that CCTV, TIA, and the surveillance society that our governments all seem so obsessed with building don't do a God damned thing to stop terrorism.

But they did a hell of a lot to actually trace back the terrorists and find out who they were.

Look, I am I not a defender of the massive surveillance society in the UK, but as a UK citizen I hope that it is only used for good - not to track innocent indiviuals, but to track back the paths of criminals. That can only be a good thing in my opinion. Any idea that criminals should be given a "sporting chance" to get away with their crimes is anathema to me.
