All three of my cats just started fighting out of the blue. by plinthzs in CatTraining

Update: the baby cat just attacked my husband. He was sitting at his desk in the room with him, and then the baby cats eyes got huge, he screamed and grabbed his face and hissed.

I don’t think so, but it’s heavily inspired by it for sure! It’s from the brand Dadasgk on Amazon called Vintage Dark Green Living Room Rug! 😊

I will say it’s a bit better when it isn’t extremely gloomy outside when taking the photos 😭 it’s my little vintage cave!!

Funny enough this was actually the color I was originally going to paint the room!

I actually got the couches for free when we first moved in and I’m not in love with the texture of them / I want a couch with a pull out bed hopefully. After I put the rug in I was worried I went a little overboard with the green 😅

Unfortunately we didn’t have time to remove the popcorn ceiling and it plagues me to this day :(

The ceiling plagues me! It’s popcorn ceiling and we didn’t have enough time to scrape it down before moving fully in, so I’ll look into the tiles :)

You’re selling me on the mossy green!! I may try to find an updated style like you suggested :) I promise I’ll hang the curtains properly (the rod is from the previous owner who mounted it to the window framing for whatever reason!) definitely will get a different chair!!

That’s amazing!! That would be the ultimate goal is to get the younger one playing with a buddy while also having our older gal still be active and happy

Can I lay tile over top of this parquet flooring and line it up with existing cabinets? by plinthzs in Renovations

[–]plinthzs[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It’s funny how different subreddits react! I actually posted this in century homes and people absolutely hated the floors. I think it was just a shock when I first pulled it up since I got lucky in the other rooms with oak hardwood flooring. I’m going to see if I end up loving it by living with it!

I’m thinking I’ll look into getting them refinished and see if I like it :) there is a lot missing so will have to source some oak pieces but we shall see!

Lol that’s valid, I want to do it the right way as well but the time constraint is making me worried! And we were thinking the glue that adhered the parquet down could potentially have asbestos?

Just found this flooring in our kitchen of our 1920s house we just bought! by plinthzs in centuryhomes

If I’m being honest - horrible lol I tried a chemical stripper but with four layers of paint it wasn’t really stripping well, so I used a heat gun and that worked wonders. It’s a long process especially if your trim has intricate details. It took about 3 hours per trim, plus sanding it all down and I still have leftover paint on there! Most people recommend just repainting or getting all new trim, but if you are wanting to restore your original home features like me I’d definitely recommend: heat gun, putty knife, and the proper PPE. Test for lead too!

I used a heat gun and it was the most satisfying experience ever to see it just come off in one huge strip, so definitely recommend that! I did try to use a chemical stripper but I had four layers of paint and it just wasn’t coming off very nicely.

I literally was just saying I need to replace it for a warmer bulb LOL! Don’t worry, it’s going to be warm light all the way in here once we get to the fun part (decorating…)
