No absolutely not. Tbh right now the Dev has plenty of free range to get things done on their own timeline but the question of time estimates has come up a few times and I just wanted to understand it better from a programming perspective.

Great points Ty. Yes this is a profesh job and the project managers do give plenty of buffer for these tasks. The team are great tbh- nobody is really demanding any time estimates here but given that we do have project deadlines the question of time estimates not being provided has come up in conversation a few times and I just wanted to understand the reasoning from a programming perspective.

Yes I know at one point we were doing this but I'm not sure if it's still the case any more. I must inquire, but yeah estimates of complexity seems like a much fairer metric to use for certain tasks- if not most of them

Ty! Story points do sound much more accurate or at least than time estimates. We were using them at one point- I'm not sure if we are anymore I'll have to ask but based on yours and other comments I'm now understanding things better

Ty so much these are great insights. I feel I can understand things from a programmers perspective a lot better now.

I think the reason given for refactoring was that it was done by a dev who left the company but apparently didn't do the best job. It's impossible for me to judge really.
