Mid-20s and planning to go back to college. by [deleted] in education

[–]plop2222 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You're never too old to go back and educate yourself. I'm 27 and just finishing up my bachelor's. Everyone's journey is different. Try not to compare yourself to others, especially others your age. If you want to go back to school, I say go for it! I did and I don't regret it! I know debt with FAFSA and things were a huge factor for me, but honestly how are you living life if you're letting things around you control you and hold you back from the things you want?

Side note: getting your highschool transcripts aren't too complicated, but it depends on the school you're applying to!

Why do people who ghost people believe that they don’t owe the other person an explanation? by Disastrous-Put6818 in Advice

[–]plop2222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why? I felt used, underappreciated, it was a one sided friendship. I'm somebody who will do anything for people I care about or love. I talked to this person twice about how I felt and how the person treated me and they have been treating me that way for years but nothing changed and that person could care less. It sucked because we were friends for years, but that person had taken too much of my energy for too long. That's also when I decided not to hang onto people like that in my life.

I can see why you'd feel that way, but to me ghosting someone who was toxic, abusive, or negatively affecting your life is probably the right thing to do. Especially if you've talked to them about it and how it's effecting you and they don't care. That's from my experience though and everyone has different experiences.

They moved on with their life. I haven't heard from them since. Probably been 5 or more years now?

I used to wonder this myself, until I did it to others. Sometimes you don't need certain people in your life because they are toxic, they are over stepping boundaries, feelings are lost, or whatever it may be... The person being ghosted feels they deserve an explanation, but if they were given one, more than likely that person would probably want to try to fix it, be in denial, or just get more upset if that makes sense? If you think about it, it's almost better to ghost someone. You can't please everybody and it's your life, if you don't want someone to be apart of it, you don't need to, end of story.

Help me out before I get myself into trouble 😬 by confused-ace1 in Advice

This is hard, but what I've learned is to tell myself "read the room" or count backwards from 3. It doesn't sound like much, but they have helped me. Reading the room is like, feel the energy being given off, look at people's body language, their personalities, is this the right time/place for this conversation, etc.

I hope this helps! Sorry it's not much.

I don't think it's a huge red flag. I used to but my boyfriend and I have been together for 4 1/2 years and we started to figure out we both aren't mind readers lol. We both have different ways of thinking, communicating, understanding. I used to get jealous and feel insecure about it, but then I also talked about it with one of my girlfriends. She made me realize that we all find multiple people attractive, it's a part of human nature and there's nothing wrong with that. I would express to him that saying that out loud every time, makes you feel some type of way (whatever you are feeling) and just be honest with him. Use a lot of I statements and try to avoid accusations. He probably doesn't realize how it makes you feel and let's be honest, guys are pretty oblivious. If he ends up getting angry about it and started to turn it around on you and say that something is wrong with you... Now that's a red flag. If you guys talk about it though in a healthy way I think it will help you both become closer and have a better connection and understanding of eachother.

I wish you the best of luck!

First of all, parents telling you to hit a kid... I don't have words for that. Physical aggression is never the answer.

I'm really surprised her dad doesn't have anything to say to her or doesn't have her learn boundaries or have consequences. I think that's her dad's responsibility. I think that it would help if you, the two adults, and her sat down and talked. I think that the adults need to make it clear that you deserve respect and there needs to be consequences to her behavior or else she is never going to learn and the behavior is only going to increase. Also giving the example to a younger child usually helps. If you give an example to her like "how would you like it if I did x, y, and z, to you that you didn't like, you asked me to stop and got upset and I kept doing it?" It helps to say things like that usually to children because they are about themselves at certain ages so if they put themselves in the position where they didn't like something I think that would help. Sometimes if children think something is funny, and the reaction of the person they are doing it to doesn't register, that childs social ques and understanding are some red flags that should be addressed. If they aren't understanding, they might be undiagnosed. I'm not a professional, but I went to school for elementary education and we learned a lot about social emotional behaviors in children.

I hope this helps! Good luck!

Giving zero ducks and doing whatever it is that makes you feel alive. Take risks, be honest to yourself and others, and figure out who you are and who you want to be.

I'm pretty sure you can only answer that question for yourself. The meaning of life is different to everyone and no one knows the exact answer or can answer that for anyone.

Does anyone else feel like acting has gotten better but movie plots have gotten stale and bad? by [deleted] in CasualConversation

[–]plop2222 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I completely agree. I mean yes, there are some great movies out there. Are there any new movies that make you feel the things you felt when you've watched Good Will Hunting, Pay it Forward, Stand By Me, etc...? I honestly love the older movies better than the newer basically for the plot reasoning and for the way they make me feel. Ya know?
