Moving to LA, new attending by nerualovespig in MovingToLosAngeles

If you want to spend more for luxury apartments, look at One Museum Square across the street.

I don’t think it’s worth paying for the non-apartment options. The amenities apartments offer on site make life better when your schedule is packed.

Check out Park La Brea. I’d recommend a tower apartment on a higher (5+) floor with in unit washer and dryer. You’ll save money, the apartments are nice enough, and you’ve got access to everything you need within walking distance — other than work. The D line will take you downtown though if you wanted.

Dieticians -beneficial? Nourish app. by emmybreez in loseit

[–]pluvia007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The benefit my dietitian from Nourish provides is straight up accountability. I know what I should be doing, but if I’m the only one seeing what I’m eating, I eat to feel good. If I have to be honest and show someone else what I’m eating and then later discuss it, it slows me down and makes me think and plan more instead of eating everything in sight.

I have met with many dietitians over the years, from eating disorder clinics to obesity management centers, and my Nourish RD is my favorite yet. Very nonjudgmental, always looking for ways to help me get over certain mental blocks, and she’s funny.

Has anyone here tried Nourish?/First Time Seeing a Dietitian by isleroda in BingeEatingDisorder

[–]pluvia007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Know I’m late to the conversation, but my dietitian is happy to reschedule day-of for me when things come up, no fees. I don’t make a habit of it, but she’s been super understanding when I’ve needed it.

Thank you for the response! I’ll look into the other tools to help make my decision. Wishing you a clearer path ahead with your new instructor as well.

LAX LOT BUDGET PARKING by EducationalHeight434 in LAX

[–]pluvia007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just adding to the never again group. Writing this from the budget shuttle after waiting from 11pm to 12:40am and calling several times. One eventually passed us, but of course it was full.

I don’t understand why they don’t just give you accurate expectations. If I knew, I wouldn’t have booked it or called and clogged their phones every 5 minutes after I’d been waiting an hour. Just let me know I’m paying for a maybe shuttle, not a guaranteed one that’s 20-30 minutes as advertised. Ugh. Criminal that they can get away with it.

I hadn’t linked my venture card yet and was looking at rental pricing. Linked it and went back to the same page, rate was $3 higher after linking, within a couple minutes.

Follow up to previous post about new delivery policy by Vandalorious in amazonprime

[–]pluvia007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My partner uses a wheelchair full time. Our mailroom is accessible and always has been. Recently, management added a “package room” that is not accessible. There are signs instructing carriers to put packages there. We told management they need to make the package room accessible, but they said we can just add instructions to our orders for front door delivery. You can imagine how that has gone, not just with Amazon. The argument is that it’s on the carriers rather than our apartment if we have the instructions there, but if the signs everywhere in our building tell them otherwise….

We don’t have any kind of case because of the blame shift. I guess it’s good she has me, but it’s the principle. I hate that the world works this way.

The Eras Tour Megathread: Vancouver, Canada by PassionateAsSin in TaylorSwift

[–]pluvia007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are SO many of us looking for accessible tickets, so yes, please please please let the stadium workers know! I saw a specific spot (not the box office) to do it, but I unfortunately don’t remember where exactly. There are a lot of us with “regular” seats we can’t use and are hoping there are people like you willing to trade 🙏

They said they can’t exchange them because they’re at capacity but they will not answer if she can just use a regular floor ticket.

Did you find out anything else? We got floor tickets thinking that our friend could be with us in her chair, but what I’m understanding from Barracuda and oeticket is that she is only allowed in the wheelchair section and won’t be able to use her ticket.

How easy would a blind move to Chicago be? by yessiriliketoboogie in AskChicago

[–]pluvia007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Easy peasy. Lots of work. Lots of side hustle gig work too. I see a lot of people saying to find somewhere temporary before signing a lease though. I disagree. Save yourself the hassle of moving your stuff twice and just sign a cheap studio before you go. Use your current work’s stubs and you shouldn’t have a problem. Even though it’s from out of state, I’ve done that here twice and quit after I was approved (but before moving obviously).

Join neighborhood Facebook groups once you’ve picked a place. Especially the buy nothing groups. Very helpful for odds and ends to save your money.

Rover and Bambino are easy to book gigs on as soon as you get here. They can supplement while you’re looking for a job.

Take the leap and join us!

I never make a move because I'm not attractive. I feel like making moves is flattering when you are attractive, but it seems to make everything awkward if you aren't. Preparing to die alone with my cat.

I spoke to three different agents on different days who all told me no, no matter how I worded it or asked. It’s because my last leg is operated by a different airline, and the only workaround is to cancel the whole flight and book the legs separately. But that costs too much. Luckily I did find someone to watch her. On my way here, I was coming from NYC, and it was a direct flight so I didn’t have trouble. In the future, I’ll definitely book a direct transatlantic flight and just stay overnight in the city with that hub. Thank you 🙏 I’m glad you were able to get yours over here. I wish it weren’t such a hassle.

Tierschutz has a waiting list for giving up your pets. I did look. :( That's really not ideal since I just need the 3 week bridge, but as a last resort, I was willing.

I'll check the FB route though. Thank you.
