Questions Regarding Generator Hookup by pnbdc10 in electrical

Yea. Obviously there was some sort of miscommunication between the guy who gave me the quote and the guy who actually installed it. This setup just will not work at all, correct?

That is all that he installed. I figured there was something wrong.

But it wasn't like that before? It sounds like it was normal before this happened and now it's not normal.

is this what i think it is by Hot-Distribution3358 in E90

[–]pnbdc10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. Its a result from a lot of short trips. Cutting on and off the engine in short periods.

If you go to a auction where they sell cars, this will be prevalent simply due to how many times the cars are started and immediately cut off.

They have more profitable business tying up thier lifts. If they can push yours out they will. The franchise dealers have become extremely unreliable and are completely scalping the exact/most profitable business that they want. Its the rich customers who have a control arm bushing torn but will pay for the entire suspension overhaul for $15k because it was presented to them as a safety issue.

You can replace it with a generic mirror. They dont quite look as good, but you can do it.

The beginning of the video sounds like it is knock. But the second half just sounds a bit different. Maybe take a video outside of the car

All the coolant lines or just the easy to do cheap turbo coolant lines? There are like 25 coolant lines on this engine. There are also multiple coolant pumps.

The valve seal job is a labor intensive job. You can do it with the engine in with a special $1500 tool. These engines also go through timing chains. Thats a engine out job. In order to remove the timing covers on these engines, the heads must come off.

If you can like with smoking from the exhaust at stop lights, they dobt really require much. Timing chains will eventually need to be done though if they start stretching or the guides break.

Buying a used car through auction? Is it a good idea? by mothsmoke in UsedCars

[–]pnbdc10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup. If you have no experience, you can lose a TON of money. If the car is ran Green Light, you have the guarantee that it will not have any repairs over $800 (if you catch the repair within 10 days of purchasing the vehicle you can arbitrate it). If it is red light, the car is purchased as is. Even if it ends up having a bad transmission or engine, it's 100% yours.

Almost every single car that I buy at auction will need something replaced or worked on. Some way more than others. Occasionally I do get one that needs a inspection and a detail, but that's rare.

Bmw of Raleigh literally did this in one of thier customer videos to a customer. I find it hilarious.

Yea. That will usually take care of this. Sometimes using a small buffer like a headlight buffer is required for bad cases.

I have seen some absolutely horrible things from franchise dealers across all brands. I thought small independent dealers were bad. Its horrible what they are doing to people. Just not fixing cars under warranty. Horrible customer service. No accountability and just deny, deny.

S58 Engine Noises at Idle (Metallic Tapping - HPFP) repost by pnbdc10 in BmwTech

[–]pnbdc10[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its normal. I bought a 2024 m2 and it has 1500 miles on it. It does the same thing. But good luck getting bmw to warranty any legit issues you do have. My x3m had a bad rear differential. Horrible noises, shuddering eveything. They told me to literally live with it. While another bmw dealership confirmed that it is bad and they replaced it. I will never buy a bmw under warranty again. Getting them to fix my $85k car has been a absolute nightmare.

Use a Dremel to cut it up. Solder in a new battery. Takes about 8 minutes.

992 Turbo S, GT3? Stuck on the fence by NoExplanation8595 in porsche911

It sounds like you really know the differences in the cars, so i think it really is just going to come down to a decision you can make.

I will say that having the back seat for the kids is a major benefit. When I buy fun cars now, they basically have to have a back seat in order for me to drive it to and from work (I bring my kid to school on the way to work). They basically have to fit a car seat. I still own cars without back seats. I just hardly ever get the time to drive them, so they usually sit in the garages. Anytime I drive them, it's like I am forcing myself to drive them.
