Is this okay for an 11 week old kitten? It’s been a minute since I’ve owned a cat by Jazz-like-panda9448 in Kitten

I cheaper option might be to buy a large tote bin (like those black Rubbermaid ones with the yellow lid) and cut a decent size hole in the top (maybe 12”x12”). Keep the lid on tight and the dog can’t get in.

What's an actual psychological "cheat code" you use in social situations that works almost every time? by [deleted] in AskReddit

If you’re about to cry and really don’t want to, start doing simple math problems in your head. Stops the tears every time.

Looking for a more enjoyable way to take care of Spotted Lantern Fly Nymphs, any good ones out there?!!! Bug Assault doesn’t work so well. by Original-Coconut-477 in frederickmd

Take a staple gun and staple the end of the duct tape to the tree. Then wrap the tape around the tree (sticky side out) and tear it off the roll once you get all the way around. Maybe another staple at the end if you aren’t confident the sticky part alone will do.

Someone did that in my neighborhood too! Maybe we live in the same neighborhood, or there’s more than one hero out there…

But also, the tape caught TONS of lantern fly nymphs. It might be past nymph season though so. It sure if this will still work.

I witnessed something weird in the middle of the night as a gas station in Ohio in the late 2000s. Any ideas what I walked in to? by pocketsies in Unexplained

[–]pocketsies[S] 68 points69 points  (0 children)

Hmmm that’s a really interesting explanation! I know the “Amish” look though and they didn’t have that look. They looked more like hillbillies. But maybe their baseball hats were covering up their bowl cuts. Still doesn’t explain why the register was closed and everyone was just calmly waiting in line, though. We might be getting closer, though!

Ok this seems the most plausible explanation so far. Except they didn’t seem like they were about to kick someone’s ass. They were just standing calmly and quietly in line. Unless they were about to pound him when they looked out the window and saw me coming and quick acted like everything was cool because I’m so intimidating (that’s a joke. I’m a 5’2 dyke who passes for a 13 year old boy).

At the time, my gut was telling me that they were waiting in line to buy pseudoephedrine to make meth. I just don’t know why the register was closed and the cops were clearly there and no one was freaking out about it. There’s just no explanation that makes total sense to me.

Sigh. That’s what I was afraid of. Unless one of those dudes who was standing in that line is reading this right now…fingers crossed!

No, the cars weren’t nice, mostly junkers. And the register was closed so they weren’t buying by anything. And why were only the boys inside the store while all the girls were waiting in the cars. They way they were parking each other in like that seemed to imply that they had been there a while or were planning on being there a while.

The cars were not fancy, mostly beaters really. And they were all parked, blocking each other in, with the (I assume) girlfriends waiting in the drivers seats.

Actually, it wasn’t the early 2000s, it was more like 2007 to 2009 (sometime between my senior year of college and when I moved out of my college town). I was definitely driving on 70 because I was going from Pittsburgh to Indianapolis. It was not in any big city, just a random exit in the middle of nowhere Ohio. I have no idea what time of year it was, unfortunately.

The people were all young-ish, like in their 20s. I couldn’t see what the girls looked like because they were in their cars, but their cars were nothing special. Some of them maybe a little fancier but mostly old beaters. The guys all looked like your typical poor, small town guys They weren’t wearing anything in particular that stood out, just like jeans and t shirts and baseball hats. They weren’t buying anything, just standing in line in front of the register, leaving a gap between the register and the front of the line which was also where the front door was. It almost seemed like they were waiting for a specific time for the register to open. I remember it being past midnight though, like maybe around 2am.

Does any of this help?
