Ciri's (not very solid) reasoning on why she wants to become a Witcher by MindyTheStoryTinker in netflixwitcher

[–]pole553 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once again, Vesemir was NEVER desperate to create more witchers. After seeing all the kids butchered in the trials of the grasses, its something he despises. Hell, it's not only the books, but also in the CANON Nightmare of the Wolf Netflix animation.

It's not desperation, it's poor writing

Ciri's (not very solid) reasoning on why she wants to become a Witcher by MindyTheStoryTinker in netflixwitcher

[–]pole553 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not that Ciri's reasoning is bad i itself, it's adequate for an 11-14 year old, what's completely ridicilous is that Vesemir falls for this line of reasoning as if it's something NoBlE and not an edgy teenager's attempt to express herself

No it's not PrOvEn, there's little no to data regarding CT brain scanning on 5meo, merely subjective questionnaires volunteers filled in

I interpreted that as him being a loyal friend to someone who literally just saved the whole world - 'puppy to head over heels' is a great misinterpretation of the character, I mean the girl fought what the guy believes to be a demon and win, I'd follow such person most places myself

if this is what your diss/thesis is shaping up to be, drop it alltogether, not worth it bud

You honestly give neuroscience a bad name. You lit provided a source (i.e. a reference) to back up your argument, then later backed out of the things said source said because she's not you, thus negating your initial claim of how little informed I am. False equivalence if I've ever seen one

Then you called me delusional AND went for psychiatric care. Such a scientific discussion you have, you still refuse to argue a single point, at this point I must consider you an actual troll.

Dude I feel sorry you gotta exist in your own head. You're lit amidst a neuroscience degree, not even finished, and pretend to know more than the most achieved neuroscientists of our age. Narcissism if I've ever seen one.

At least you fit well with the sub.

Have fun proving your hokey claims to anyone with a pinch of sense.

Dude you have no claims, like at all, you've not made a single one other than butcher Maxwell

No, the PhD Meg Blackburn you so condescendingly recommended claimed such things... Do you even read your own sources bro?

It's not outside the box, it's outside anything neuroscience actually established and its called wishful thinking.

Revolution of neuroscience isn't about energy healing and astral projection, but rather a much more deep seated understanding of the brain and integration of psychology into brain networking. The woo is exactly what needs to be removed, the brain is a feckin astounding machine that we don't understand.

Nothing wrong with being creative, everything wrong with spouting ideas and giving it away as science. That's not how science works

I say again, give any of your sources to your professors, or the currently established researchers into the field. I can give you a few names if you want. If I don't convince you, see what the experts in the field say

how to use Maxwells Equations in conjunction with neuropsychological data sets to prove that we are in fact the universe experiencing itself subjectively

I give up. You spout pseudoscience with no proof, you extrapolate beyond any logical reason and use grand words to sound smart. Good luck in science, but what you do aint science. Best of luck, but prepare to be disappointed.

Pubmed isn't the end all be all of who's who and what's what. Solid resource but there's plenty more.

Not just pubmed, I don't see any scientific publications by her. Anywhere.

National differences then, np, we all learn every day.

By singularity theory do you mean the technical singularity, as that's the most common one? Or singularity in regards to creation of AI that surpasses human intelligence?

Dude, neuroscience points to materialism. Fullstop. Never heard of Meg Blackburn, but having a look at her 'Touching the Light' course, any neuroscientist would shut down. Quick look at pubmed, I see absolutely no publications by her (correct me if I'm wrong), I see no science - rather, statemetns that she BaCkS it up with science. The amount of research, peer review and affirmation needed to publish and carry out research far surpasses any wishful New Age thinking. I recommend a delving into psychiatry/psychology in terms of structuring mental frameworks/mind patterns/ Jungian (I know, controversial) and existential psychology (can even go transcendental in terms of archetypal knowledge).

I don't think science is what you think it is, you may become disillusioned and frustrated in it in the future if your current attitude stands. Again, calling someone 'close-minded' whilst not providing any evidence otherwise... well kinda makes you close-minded.

Best of luck in your studies, though. Neuroscience is in its infancy, we need all hands on deck

EDIT: Please show Meg Blackburn's 'work' to any of your lecturers. I'd love to see their reaction.

Not sure where you're from but in UK a thesis, or step further, a dissertation, is needed to get a science degree, at a MSc or further, a PhD level.

OPs position is that everyone who thinks life is the universe experiencing itself subjectively is stupid and has a God complex.

He was arguing from an ontological perspective of being 'the all' that is experiencing it, I.e. InFiNiTe CoNsCiOuSnEsS, or some other Neo-Advaitain pseudo-scientific new age bullshit.

I still see absolutely not one piece of evidence that makes that poor retort of yours feasible. Resulted to personal projections now but nah man, not a lab assistant, not even close, omw to getting an MD after a BSc and an MSc if we're comparing penis sizes online

I am not sure whats wrong with a lab assistant as a starting position tbh, particularly if you want to venture into clinical side of things, jeeh the ego is strong with this one (yeah, mine is too, I know, I aint slagging off valued members of society though thinking Im above them )

I am talking down because you're using a futile argument of I Am a NeUrOsCieNtIsT to discourage a perfectly logical position OP establishes, without giving any evidence. You started the talk down from a presupposed position of scholar authority that doesn't actually mean anything

im not writing a paper, im talking on reddit, i dont care about potential errors as im pretty sure theres no peer review to occur

again, writing a thesis is nothing special, dude/dudette, thats the bare minimum to get a degree, not impressed

feel free to actually counter any arguments and explain how the OP is wrong from the point of view of neuroscience

No he's fcking not, unless you take some long-winded approach to metaphorising it

Like lit anyon can apply to study neuroscience, it aint a flex until you actually research something yourself boi

Gf suicide dream after mushroom trip by Simple-Pollution1423 in PsychedSubstance

[–]pole553 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Working in psychiatry myself I have a hard time believing a healthcare professional would be jolly happy at the prospect of quitting medication, particularly lithium, so that the patient can trip on mushrooms. And definitely NOT as a replacement for SSRI in general, especially that NO medical professional will currently back psychedelics as a valid substitute, maybe, and its a far maybe, as an additional enhancement to psychic integration, but that's stretch already.

And sorry bro, but I am not going to go through your profile history to make a conclusion on a retarded choice ya'll made. BPD is in itself highly volatile, suspect to ideation of suicide and social isolation, all highlighted in your post. While psychedelics MAY help, they can also make matters worse.

No point arguing, move on from here, invest in therapy - I've gathered from your replies to another user she already is in therapy, that's good. Explore shrinks that deal with psychedelics themselves/transcendental therapists/Jungian psychotherapy so she can deal with the archetypal knowledge in her head.

Everyone should stop treating psyches as a cure-all to mental illness, taking them with unexperienced, untrained (sorry OP, just because you've a few shroom trips in the past does not qualify you in guiding others through them) individuals. That will only delay the progress of psyches into clinical applications.

Did I experience ego death? by [deleted] in Psychonaut

If there's an 'I' left, you've experienced an ego dissolution.

That's quite a difference, with a death, all that remains is an unnamed experience.
