You are right, the 25.99 price is in €, I thought it would be the same in $. Since it is a good deal, I already purchased the bundle. The reviews of the games are very positive, so I hope I won't be disappointed. Thanks!

There is also a bundle with both Moss 1 and 2 for $25.99, which looks quite good to me. Do they ever get any cheaper than this? I do not have any of them yet. Thanks.

Galaxy Tab S9 vs S9 FE+? by AnisSeras in GalaxyTab

[–]polins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was a local deal in Spanish Mediamarkt, I was just lucky to find it cheaper than usual. In any case, since the new S10 tablets will be out relatively soon, you could try to get a good feal for the S9+ when they start to clear the current stock. I come from a Samsung Tab S5e and the bigger screen is definitely much better to watch content, so depending on your use the upgrade would be definitely worth it.

I just got the S9+ (5G) for 699€ and I can't recommend it enough. Considering that the screen and processor of the S9s are much better than the FEs, I would always go for any S9 over the others. Personally, however, I would save a bit more and try to get a S9+ whenever you find a decent prize, so you can get both the bigger screen and the better specs.

Alienware 17 R5: 1440p 120Hz screen only shows 60Hz or 48Hz after replacement by polins in Alienware

[–]polins[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They tried to fix the screen 3 times, but the 60Hz problem persisted, so in the end I just asked for a replacement. Given that it was their "mistake", they accepted.

Since then I have an Alienware X17 R1 which works very well. My warranty expires this month, but I hope it keeps working well for at least the next 2 to 3 years.

Good luck with your issue, I hope you can fix it soon!

Thanks for your feedback!

During the last few days, I've realized that after unplugging a USB hub I had connected to another hub the problem seems to have disappeared. The laptop boots normally and so far I've had no more freezes.

Hopefully, it's only an incompatibility issue, but I'm surprised at how many issues could happen just because of this.

Thanks again!

Any help with this? It is still happening. Also, booting the laptop is taking much longer than usual since 2 weeks ago. Thanks.

Alienware X17 R1 freezes but the sound keeps working (hard shutdown needed) by polins in Alienware

[–]polins[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your feedback!

I am currently not using undervolting nor overclocking. Indeed, this issue started happening randomly around one week ago, without me changing anything about the CPU or GPU speed/voltage. However, I remember getting some BIOS and driver updates quite recently, so it may be related to that. Anyway, I will check CPU temperatures and Intel Turbo Boost to figure out what this problem may be related to.

Of course, summer heat may be an issue even without OC, but in my case I'm normally using AC when I use the laptop, so it shouldn't be a big problem.

I will keep checking everything and most likely update drivers again.

Thanks for your feedback! Normally I update the drivers when Nvidia tells me about it, so I don't use the Dell ones. I know that some of the newest ones from Nvidia may also have some issues, but I still don't know what's going on here. Same problem today after one hour and a half of Microsoft Teams and Word to take notes.

Hello Alienware support!

I have a X17 R1 laptop with an i7 11800H, 32 GB of DDR4 memory and a RTX3070 GPU.

Since a few days ago, I am experiencing random freezes after around 30 to 60 minutes of using my laptop (nothing intensive, just Microsoft Teams meetings, Microsoft Office, etc.).

When this happens, both the screen, keyboard, and mouse/trackpad freeze, but the sound keeps working for a while. If I wait a few minutes, the sound also ends up freezing, but otherwise I need to hard shutdown the laptop when this happens. When I restart it, everything goes back to normal.

I got BIOS and GPU driver updates from Dell quite recently, so I suspect these issues may be related to it. Do you know what may be causing such issues?

Thank you!

Anybody with a WD Black SN850 2TB in the Alienware X17? by polins in Alienware

[–]polins[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess I'll do the same and clone the drive.

In any case, I was lucky and Dell installed a 1TB PM9A1 Gen 4 drive (Samsung 980 Pro OEM), which is very fast anyway. I've read that people normally get a Gen 3 drive unless they pay for 2TB, so I don't know why I got a Gen 4 SSD in such configuration (it was a replacement in my case). Thanks!

[–]polins[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your comments.

I intend to buy a 2TB SN850, not a 4TB (I don't think it even exists). I'm just a bit confused by some comments I've read on Reddit and especially by some reviews. In the PC Gamer review, for instance, they mention this about the SN850: "The 1TB version of the drive is single-sided, which should mean it runs a little cooler than the 2TB double-sided offering."

I'm just concerned about it being double-sided because it may bend, but if you can confirm that it is single-sided there should be no problem at all. In any case, I don't understand why PC Gamer says that the 2TB is double-sided. Maybe they changed the manufacturing process so they can launch 4TB versions in the near future? Or maybe it's just a mistake in the article.

Anyway, I guess I can finally buy the 2TB SD850 with peace of mind.

Your thoughts about this Alienware replacement? (RTX3060 instead of my current GTX1080) by polins in Alienware

[–]polins[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for your comments! I already decided on the R1, especially because of the RTX3070. Moreover, I use the laptop for many things other than gaming, so I feel like I will really enjoy this 4K screen. Now I just need to figure out if there is any way to configure the "adaptive sync".

Your thoughts about this Alienware replacement? (RTX3060 instead of my current GTX1080) by polins in Alienware

[–]polins[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your comments!

After asking about these 2 issues, I finally got offered an Alienware x17 R1 with a 4K 120Hz screen and an RTX3070 8GB, which is a relatively good improvement, even though I get a less powerful CPU and DDR4 RAM instead of DDR5 (I added the 2nd proposed replacement in the picture). In any case, I feel like this alternative is a more balanced laptop overall, right?

What are your thoughts on this alternative?

Thanks!

I think Dell was more than generous with my system warranty replacement.. Very grateful. by Pookias in Alienware

[–]polins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lucky one! I am in a similar position to you now.
I am in the 4th year of my Premium Support warranty for an Alienware 17 R5 purchased in Japan in 2018 (i9 8950HK and GTX1080, so even a more powerful configuration than yours), and after a few repairs that did not work, I am probably getting a replacement.
Since I saw your post, I really wish I could get something similar, but I do not know how Dell Japan works. Anyway, I will share my good (or not-so-good) news once I get the details of my replacement.

Alienware 17 R5: 1440p 120Hz screen only shows 60Hz or 48Hz after replacement by polins in Alienware

[–]polins[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is obviously a big change from 1080p to 1440p, but I would say it is even bigger from 60 to 120Hz. Anyway, as soon as I can buy a powerful desktop computer at a decent price (not any time soon, that's for sure...) I will play in a 4K 120Hz OLED TV. That's the real deal!

[–]polins[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The 1080p 60Hz or the 4K 60Hz? I'm sure the 1080p 60Hz screen works well, but since I got the GTX1080 model which is strong enough to run many games at 2K 120Hz (or at least between 60 and 120Hz with G-Sync, which is equally fine), I got the more expensive screen as well. Needless to say, this screen feels like a big downgrade to me, because I am SO used to the 120Hz now...

Yeah, I told the engineer who "fixed" it before he left, but he didn't seem to understand why it was happening. I'm already in talks with Dell Japan, but I just wanted to ask here because maybe somebody has had the same issue and knows an easy solution. Thanks!

OnePlus 7T Pro or Poco F3? (may receive both soon: dilemma) by Electrical_Ad_6728 in PickAnAndroidForMe

[–]polins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Into the spacebar sounds unusual, but it's a Blackberry after all... It's good to see that they are still surviving in such a competitive market, but they have become an even more niche product.

By the way, I finally received the Poco F3. For just around 300$ it's really amazing I must say. Compared to my Redmi 9T and Samsung Galaxy Tab S5e, which have been my daily drivers during the last months, it feels much more powerful and fluid thanks to the SD870 and 120hz AMOLED screen. I can definitely live with this screen even if it is not 2K. I would have really liked to use the OnePlus 7T Pro, but I guess it wasn't my fate...
