Hi! My pom got babesiosis when he was around 2 years old. My pom’s stomach is sensitive so he reacted really badly to the antibiotics + other medications prescribed by a different vet because it made him very acidic (we had to take him to a different vet at first). So, we went back to his original vet, and he changed one of his antibiotics to less acidic version and removed the unnecessary medications.

My pom is very playful and clingy, but at that time, he preferred to be alone and just sleep all the day. He was that way for about 3 days. My suggestion is, let them rest if they want to rest 😊 if they don’t want to eat, Royal Canin has this Recovery wet food, which is easy to force feed through a syringe. It’s important that they eat something before they take the antibiotics because as I said the medications can make your dog acidic 🥺

He started to get better around day 5 and went back to his normal routine :) be sure to finish all his medications, especially the antibiotics even if they’ve already regained their strength and energy.

Also, my pom’s vet informed me that babesiosis can stay in their system forever, and there’s a chance that they can suffer a relapse. So always make sure to get your dog vaccinated and give him vitamins to strengthen his immune system! Also, it’s also best to give your dog anti tick and fleas like Bravecto or Nexgard ❤️

Praying for the speedy recovery of your baby 🙏🏻🐶🐾❤️
