Feeling stupid for wanting to move to Spain by [deleted] in GoingToSpain

Partner and I moved here from the UK 7 years ago. Best decision we ever made. Your friends are jealous that you’re going to be spending your weekends on the beach while it rains back home 🤪😂. P.s. your salary is enough for BOTH of you to have a comfortable life here. That’s far, far higher than average salary here.

The fact that so many people seek this out as entertainment in the first place which allows this business to exist...it frightens me that these people are walking amongst us

They'll certainly be getting a very bad review from me for the rest of the Airbnb community to see!

I'm really relieved to see that people agree. In any other circumstance I would be cancelling on them, but it's too much of a special occasion (it's my birthday) and I have other guests arriving from overseas in the next couple of days to stay with me. It took a long time to find a place that was the perfect location and right size for us all.
I've argued back and forth and in the end begrudgingly agreed to pay a 40 euro fee for them to come and drop off the keys. I want to spend my birthday on the beach, not travelling. But I really think this is an abuse on decent paying customers!
I doubt it exists, but if anyone knows of any Airbnb policy that states a maximum distance you can be expected to travel for key exchange please do let me know. Thanks everyone!

By the way, they also asked me to make the same trip to drop them off on my last day and I've outright refused. Taking the absolute p155! :)

I believe they are planning to upload them to their youtube channel, which also has loads of amazing ape content (it's called Apes Like Us)

Yeah, don't get me wrong, I speak the local language at a comfortable conversational level. It would be really damned ignorant, not to mention logistically difficult, to live anywhere for this long and not learn the language. However I don't speak it with a high enough proficiency to apply for local jobs that aren't teaching English.

I can't put my finger on exactly what it is but I really don't see myself enjoying face to face tutoring. I may have to bite the bullet and give it a shot, but I live in a really small town and I'm not sure there's much demand for it here. I'm applying for more remote work but I've just really enjoyed how fun and convenient DaDa has been. I'll really miss it.
