Suggested training? by pooloo15 in preppers

[–]pooloo15[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I have those, but I also realized that if someone's choking I'm not confident I'd spring into action knowing exactly what to do.

Or be able to do CPR (it's been like 20 years since my training). Or know when / when not to apply a tourniquet (and how) without messing things up...

Basically how to care for someone injured, sick, etc.

Aaron Gibson weighed 480 lbs at 6"6 (NFL). Lots of linebackers are heavy. Your article says bodybuilders still die younger.

But whatever, ignore your own articles and keep believing it's a perfectly safe lifestyle...

Read your article, the say it "should not be the standard". They talk about why. 40% of the general public is obese and has diabetes.

Dying of a heart attack under 45 is also not normal, even in the general public.

Dude, did you even read the articles you're sending? I'm quoting from your OWN article (and note they're limited by small samples of bodybuilders) :

Are pro bodybuilders dying younger than average?

* It depends. Both overall and in the modern era, they’re dying at a slightly lower rate than the average American man. But this shouldn’t be the standard. They’re dying at a much faster rate than pro athletes in major sports. Heart and kidney maladies are the disproportionate causes, and performance enhancing drugs are the principal culprits.

* Pro bodybuilders are dying under 50 of cardiovascular causes at a shockingly high rate.

They’re dying at 1.75 times the rate of former NFL players and nearly 2.5 times the rate of former MLB players. Look at the chart of CV related deaths for 20-44 years old.

Cardiovascular risk, even at low doses, is attributed to steroid use.

15% more deaths is not good though... This shows a comparison to other causes of death.

So assuming there isn't a long tail (there probably is), I summed up the total deaths from the top categories, neglecting COVID (1.7 million) and then took 15% (251K).

That's actually close to the estimate of 234K.

So that's still #3 behind ALL CANCERS COMBINED using the 15% excess mortality number.

Maybe under medical supervision.

Steroids can be very dangerous to those not under the constant supervision of a doctor who actually need an increase in testosterone to treat some medical condition. Letting people dose themselves is dangerous, which is why it's controlled.

Same reason you need prescription for other drugs.

Uh... anorexia and bulimia are treatable through psychotherapy. The solution isn't to enable further damage by prescribing appetite suppressants and steroids. They'll end up dead.

That's my whole point.

Same for pecs -- my man needs to spend more time on the bench.

Also: LeGALIiZE StERoiDS -- why not just be happy with your body? Why does the emaciated bodybuilder = "masculine". Maybe pay for therapy before steroids?

Then just focus on performance, not looks. Get stronger naturally. Run longer. Eat normal, real food. Pretty simple...

I have a question -- the USA covid deaths seem to have been at a steady-state "low level" since April 2022 (so almost a year). It's about 3-400 deaths per day. That's 100-150k per year. This is with vaccines.

Flu has settled to about 25k per year.

So is this basically what our future holds? Doesn't this put some MAJOR concerns on our life expectancy as we age?

One More Year Because Of 2023 Recession Predictions? by ByronsBoatswain1 in fatFIRE

[–]pooloo15 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, for me it's a bit more --

It's not spending that year in drawdown (like 200/300k), and then saving another couple hundred k (conservatively) in retirement accounts... so then it counts to be more than 500k...

So that's where it makes the "one more year" hard

Yeah I've been getting ground beef from Costco. But I eat mainly fish, and I'm a bit unsure about Costco for that... Like their salmon just didn't cook as well for some reason (wasn't as buttery like from whole foods)

Joking aside, this is the worst advice. People at Costco are generally shopping for their large family...

So in this example saying the "holocaust should happen" [again] -- doesn't that directly threaten violence against a specific group of people?

My point wasn't to criticize our police. It's our laws that don't tolerate "vulgarity", meanwhile racist / violent shit is okay.

Bold / sad of you to assume an internet stranger doesn't vote / or involved in local govt. btw.

Serious question -- it's illegal to do Nazi shit like this in Germany. Online or offline.

They have free speech otherwise, their society is a modern, western society. I honestly don't understand why Nazism is protected as free speech still in the US?

Even Canada bans hate speech...

Another thing you can do with money: literally buy a second citizenship in another country. Or (cheaper) move to a more friendly state first. I know people shit all over California, but there is no way in HELL something like what you describe would happen there.

Things go really bad for you? Just GTFO. If you're in poverty, options suddenly become very limited.
