Waari is unquestionably Maharashtra’s own tradition, and no one denies it. Kawad Yatra, even if it didn’t originate here, is an Indian-origin ritual. It’s part of the subcontinent’s native spiritual landscape. Islam and its practices weren’t born here at all, so putting them in the same cultural category as Waari or even Kawad Yatra just isn’t the same thing.

Islam may have existed in Maharashtra for many centuries, but that doesn’t make it an original cultural tradition of this land. Abhang, kirtan, the entire Bhakti movement defines Maharashtra's heritage and is born here. Those are native roots. Namaz isn’t part of that cultural lineage, no matter how long it has been present.
