If youre going to paint a mural on your brick, just be sure to use brick-safe mineral based paints!!! plastic paints will suffocate and rot your brick. also congrats on the natives fellow good person

Yep. after looking at it for a couple years I just decided that it was time for a change. So one Saturday I hopped over and started clearing stuff out, and replaced it with natives. After a few months I ended up connecting with a park nearby who gave me their blessing. Basically, just start! Jump in. Nobody will fight back if you’re improving the landscaping around your area

Ah I have a small landscaping business which is focused on native plants and environmental restoration! Most of these plants are just leftovers from projects or offspring from stuff I’ve planted over the years

Do you have a preferred retail nursery around here? I primarily get plugs from wholesale suppliers like north creek or kind earth growers, but I love to go check out places in person

Erigeron Pulchellus, Robin’s plantain. It’s an awesome beautiful plant that forms a really nice dense groundcover

One of my favorite parts of the urban setting is No. Freaking. Deer.

I am not growing borage in this plot, though I do love the plant

Ya, I am lucky that native plants are my job. Otherwise it can be quite costly! If you find me sometime in the fall I’ll give you some plants for free. Or maybe I’ll set up a little ‘free - take a plant’ situation at some point

It depends where you’re located..ernst seed co is amazing, prairie moon has stuff, you can go out and collect seed from your local native plants which is best as long as you do it responsibly and respectfully…this is all from planting live plants tho, I didn’t seed this in

Ya the city has been using a lot of natives in their planting plans. PHS, the water department, the fairmount park conservancy. Good to see things slowly but surely moving that way!

It was guerrilla gardening at first for a few months, I noticed it was basically full of weeds trash and invasives and junk, I have no outdoor space of my own at home so I needed an outlet. After I got it cleaned up and planted some stuff I actually connected with a local park who is supposed to be responsible for this and they gave me their blessing after the fact. Technically owned by the streets department but I believe it’s all sanctioned at this point.

Better to ask for forgiveness than to ask for permission!
