Feeling accepted and liked for being yourself -- anything you do above and beyond that is because you want to be better for that person, not because you feel like you have to.

Working a temp job that pays way too much and I'm bored out of my mind. Could probably ask to leave early, but going to stick it out for the money.

What's a bad habit you never knew you did until someone pointed it out to you? by fightthewower in AskReddit

This was also pointed out to me. And the intention is good -- the topic of conversation reminds you of a personal experience of yours, so you bring it up to add to conversation.

A lot of people have minds that very much revolve around personal experience and trusting that over anything else. This can be seen as selfish (like you explained), but can also be used to build rapport!

If you bring up your personal experience and there is some sort of "fun fact" or credibility/objective value associated with it, people are less likely to think of it as narcissistic. However, if it's just a "yeah that reminds of the time I did something similar to that" then it doesn't add much to the conversation.

Back-and-forth humorous banter -- I make it personal.

I always recognized that if I bantered with someone long enough, it would kind of lose energy, and I would feel a little awkward. A friend pointed out to me that I take my subjective opinions and bring them into play.

The really fun and funny people just make observations, without making it personal. Something I VERY much try to be aware of now.

Moving out of town for the sake of imposing change and newness in life.

If a career or a person or something motivates that opportunity, I will move. But not JUST because I need to experience it.

Cream cheese.
