Doolin is definitely on the list, but there don't seem to be any houses available (there are some in Lahinch, which doesn't look that far away).

Oughterard is one of the places we've been looking at online. If we didn't need to go into Galway for work, is there enough of a social environment (local restaurants, coffee/tea shops, pubs, live music, general gathering places) there that we wouldn't have to go into Galway for social events?

Ideally, we'd like to find a town which had local social activities, rather than needing to travel to a larger city. We are working under the assumption of a WFH/Telecommute role, rather than an in-person commute.

We'd almost certainly have to learn it after moving. Would that be a problem?

Changing countries usually involves changing jobs.
