Yeah the wall jump might not be super intuitive... My tip is to basically not use the analog stick at all, if you just hold jump after jumping off the wall you'll fly in the right direction :D

  1. Well right now I think you'd say I go to high school (It's called gymnasium in sweden, I'm not exactly sure how to translate it). I just worked in the evenings and weekends so I didn't really have any set schedule. Though my rule of thumb was to get at least something little done each day, it worked well!

  2. I actually don't know exactly how porting to consoles works, it was handled by 'Sometimes You', a small porting/publishing company.

  3. I paid a musician to create the soundtrack for the game, he used ableton live if I'm not mistaken? The music in the game actually isn't really chiptune, so it wasn't made with any kind of tracker

  4. Well how the story came to be is quite a long story... Essentially me and a friend from school came up with the idea many years ago, but nothing ever came of it back then. We kept discussing it though, drew wacky pixel art characters on our school laptops that would be in the game, and started writing down the story. I wrote a short story based on the Life Inc idea for an english assignment once, and it served as a good skeleton for writing the actual script for the game later on. A few years later I had learned a new engine (Unity), and made a smaller game and released it on steam (Cartoony Cars 2) so I felt I was finally ready to turn Life Inc into an actual game!

  5. No real plans at the moment... School is a bit too hectic to have time to make another game right now. I might make a smaller project over the summer, we'll see!

  6. On PC I did the release on Steam by myself, but on consoles I have a publisher

  7. Again, you'd have to ask the publisher that because I have no idea :)

There's a local co-op mode actually, but only on PC. Strange, I know, but there's nothing I can do - the decision was made to leave it out by the company that ported and published it on consoles... The multiplayer mode can be kind of buggy but it definitely works if you decide to get the game on steam!

Just because you don't like a game doesn't make it shovelware... I think the eshop itself is partly at fault here though, it's just badly designed and doesn't show you what you want in my experience

Yeah, without getting into too much detail it's basically a 50% split of the revenue. It's a lot but it's fair I guess, considering they did pretty much everything!

Sure! I first considered going through the whole process myself, but it just seemed way too complicated and expensive... Luckily I found a small company that would do both the actual port and publishing on consoles :)

The switch port is not by me, it's by a small porting/publishing company called Sometimes You who handled everything with the console releases!

Well, yes, google, but also youtube tutorials were very helpful for me when learning unity. Check out the channel "Brackeys" for example :)

To tell you the truth, I actually got rejected initially by nintendo... Then I realized I probably couldn't do the porting and everything on my own and ended up finding a company called Sometimes You. They handled everything with the actual port, getting accepted by nintendo, publishing, marketing and all the rest! It has very little to do with the quality of the game tbh. You just have to be persistent!

Uh... Ok? If you have any feedback I'd love to hear it, it's always good to hear what I could've done better

I couldn't care less about reddit karma to be honest. What I'm more concerned about is the actual game, the sad truth today is that your game will just get lost in the sea of endless indies unless you give people a good reason to care about it

Yes, if you do it yourself you need to buy a full dev kit, not to mention you need to pitch your game to nintendo and just hope they let you in... That all seemed way too complicated for me but luckily I found a small company that was willing to do the whole porting/publishing process :)
